Singer Tiwa Savage Reacts To MTV Base' Hottest Naija Songs In 2017

The list of Nigeria’s hottest tracks of 2017 was put together by MTV Base courtesy of a panelist.

The criteria for inclusion in this year’s selection was based on the songs been released no earlier than November 2016, and was weighed according to a range of criteria – from impact in the media, to level of buzz and longevity.

The all year banger, “IF” by David Adeleke, aka Davido has topped the MTV Base Roundtable hottest Naija tracks chart and has been selected as the hottest song of 2017.

Apparently not everyone agrees with the list and that includes Tiwa Savage. The singer’s hit song ‘All Over’ was ranked as the 17th hottest Nigerian song for the year 2017, hence the disagreement.

The Malo crooner who was recently trolled on social media for her style of fashion, with a mass of her followers accusing her of not being original and accused of always copying hip-hop star, Beyonce, took to her IG page to challenge the judgement with number of streams her "All Over" song garnered on spotify, which amounted to over 3 million streams.

  3. The truth is that the female counterparts in their industry is highly underrated unfortunately.
Lets even come down to specifics, what exactly is Davido and Wizkid singing/rapping thats got us gaga?

If we say Yemi’s lyrics are empty and Tiwa’s voice has lost its charm... Dunno what we will say about Davido’s and Small doctor’s.
The truth is that the society sees their male collegues as superiors.
Simi is a little dynamite that has checked all the boxes but ofcourse I will listen to Small doctors ‘gbakosha’ in the club.
Look at Waje and Omawunmi.. Timi and this dude from chocolate city label. Most youths might not even be aware of them.
Finally, The first 10 songs got massive airplay and buzz...
See me singing: Small doctors Tigbamgma tigba.. Or iskaba iskaba. If I know these songs, that means they really got all the buzz.
This is same fght Nicki is fighting in the Rap world too.. Tiwa go into the studio and break boundaries. You can do it🙌
    Morning everyone.

      Have you heard this one:
      Ah one, oje
      Ah two, ojeje
      Ah three, ojejeje
      😁😁😁😁
      Naija artistes!

    3. Oje is actually Yoruba. He combined the words, repeated je many times and pronounced them in a funky way so they can rhyme. It is o je. It means it went through, it is a success, it won its aim. Basically whatever he was trying to achieve was successful. You hear such language use during a game of ayo and ludo.

    2. Abusing Linda?
If I didnt know about that drama.. I would have half believed you.
      Everything in Nigeria is abuse.
Tiwa only corrected her false news.. Or she should have kept quiet?
Btw, I love these two women.. But truth must be told at all times.

    3. Yes, she did abuse Linda. She has become very obnoxious again. I am not a fan of Linda at all. but when I saw how Tiwa debunked the exclusive Linda gave, I just shook my head for her. Instead of her to just denounce the rumour and leave it at that. She went on and threw a shade on how she thought Linda was a reliable news source. Basically it was like a setup for Linda, to ruin her reliability and reputation. She should have just said it isn't true and left it at that. But she had to bring out her omo ita, omo elepo attitude. She needs to calm down. Seems she is facing challenges in the industry, I wonder why her Ma Lo wasn't chosen for that list. If the list is taken from Nov 2016 till now, Ma Lo should be there instead of All Over. Anyway, if she isn't careful Niniola, Simi and more female artists will take over and relegate her. She needs to focus and work harder. All these stuff she is fixated with she can easily rectify next year with better songs but nooo, she has to come out and throw shades as the omo elero that she is. Tiwa, I am one of your biggest fans and cheerleader. And you are starting to put me off. Please, go back to being classy. Life threw you that marital challenge just to keep you grounded. And you were, you overcame and bounced back. Don't forget that. Calm down.

    4. She only corrected her??? If " I thought this was a credible blog" is not an abuse to you then......
For crying out loud! She "distanced" herself from the blog and discredited her!
This may not be the typical "market woman" or crude form of abuse but trust me it is abuse clear and simple!

    5. Anonymous.. But the blogger reported that news like she got it from the Horse’s mouth ooh.
      That alone is deceptive.
I understand your point of view all the same.

    6. Iphie dear, pregnancy for a married woman isn't a bad thing.she would have simply debunked it by talking credibility. The same blog that put u out,did promo for u n shut out bad news about tiwa. That's y I prefer stellas style, she no send any celeb.a lot of them fake ass people. She acted like an ingrate, very ungrateful being.i love successful women,Stella,Linda, yemi Alade;Tiwa but with this her attitude,it's a no for her.then mocking mtv that plays it music, she needs to be called to order

  7. That no 17 is just pure bullshit, it should be at least no 11.
Who dashed Teckno "Rara" no 11...yes it had air play but not massively liked.
Even "Gaga shuffle" was put over her song and that is wash abeg.

Tiwa take heart, your bank account is what matters.

    LEP😛

  8. Tiwa's All over ought to have been on number 5, I agree with her. Why no 17? cos she's a female, the song was popular ,don't mind them joor, I don't even know what that juice by ycee was all about, useless song

  9. I dont think 'All Over' was a hit, though. Very dry song, heard it first at a friend's birthday and it sounded like nursery rhyme. People stream for a lot of reasons, not always cos they like. But she does have a fan base... so.

Run town's mad over you issa nice song, bad ass beat. Nigerian music sha still needs improvement.

    1. Are you minding her,I also streamed the song but can never put it at no 20😎😎

    2. The top 10 really deserved it based on the buzz ooh.
Dunno what gaga shuffle and rara is doing in their positions.

    3. Rara is an African anthem. It is very popular in other African countries. More popular there than Nigeria. They know the lyrics. Even the Yoruba parts. The YouTube views of the audio stream alone is near 1m while the video is over 12m views. And if you see the comments on those two YouTube content, Nigerians in diaspora and other African countries love that song. Teckno always post videos of his concerts. Hence you can see the thousands of people singing the song for him. That song is big. It might not be played enough in Nigeria because of political undermining. As for 2face gaga shuffle and 9ice, they(MTV) are just trying to help their career. And they both shouldn't be on the list. Tho, I dislike Tiwa's all over but gaga shuffle shouldn't be ahead of it on the list.

    4. Okay Anon.
Dunno if I have heard the ‘Rara’ sing and didn't know thats what it is called..

  10. Walmart Beyonce is making noise again. Sweetie, please get over yourself! All Over was a wack song and she obviously jacked Beyonce's Party video in it. She even wore the same orange and purple dress Bey wore in Crazy In Love. If you want to emulate Beyonce, please do it right. Do you know how many times Bey has been cheated out of awards and recognition? Beyonce would NEVER be a sore loser like you are! In 2009, they gave her award to Taylor Swift at the VMAs. Instead of getting annoyed, she graciously gave up her time to Taylor Swift so she could give her acceptance speech. When they cheated her at the 2017 Grammys and gave her AOTY award to Adele, even Adele said Bey deserved it but Bey didn't go about dragging people and fighting them for recognition.
    My point?
STOP BEGGING FOR RECOGNITION! IF YOU ARE AS GOOD AS YOU SAY YOU ARE (WHICH YOU ARE NOT), YOU WON'T HAVE TO HUSTLE FOR RECOGNITION!
Bey said it best; 'Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper.'

  11. The only song I know in this list is "Mad over you. And it's a lovely song.

    The rest I don't know.
Nigerian artistes irritate me with their noisy songs.
I love only few artistes Phyno, MI,Waje, Timi,Tuface and Asuquo Cobhams and of course Asà. The rest, sorry.

  12. Please who is small doctor, I already heard all the songs on this list but this small doctor, never even heard the name! This is baffling because I pay attention to Nija Pop culture but for some reason this one did not register!!!!!
