Rotimi Amaechi Calls For Gov Wike's Resignation

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has asked Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike to resign from office.

His call followed the New Year tragedy that occurred in the state when gunmen opened fire on people returning from church in the early hours of Monday

Amaechi said Governor Wike has allegedly been encouraging militant groups because of politics andelection, adding that it was high time he actedon the oath he swore to protect lives and property.

“I think the governor needs to get a bit more serious, he should stop encouraging the militant groups in the name of politics and election. You heard about 21 only in Omoku, what about in Akutoru where two persons were killed, what about other LGA.

“I think there should be much more than age to qualify to be a governor because it takes much more than age.

“I was governor of Rivers State, I did not play PDP/APC politics, life is life it has no symbol. Nobody has APC life or PDP life.

“The first responsibility of a governor which is what the oath of office requires, is that you swear to protect lives and property. When you don’t protect life and property what do you do? Is impeachment. Unfortunately there isno House of Assembly in Rivers State,” Ameachi said.

    1. Oh please! Leave him alone. How many people have been slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen?
Remind me again who we still have as President of this country and who also happens to be a Fulani man. Has he resigned? I haven't read anywhere where Mr Amechi yelled that Mr President should resign.

What if those deaths were staged? Just to witch hunt and bastardize Mr Wike's administration?

  3. Hmmm, 2 Rivers State sons with so much ego that is bigger than Nigeria.

In 2018 if they want to 'take down each other'...it's their cup of tea. So much hardship and uncertainty around ,especially for the youths. This bickering back and forth is not helping. It's not our fault that they both have stong personalities, they were created that way. They should just tone that shit down. Person don tire. Ah ah, na wetin sef?

  4. So gunmen kills then your enemy who is the governor should resign? What of the herdsmen killing even a mornach and his wife? Did the president condemn this as usual? Would anything be done about herdsmen in Kaduna? Would you call for his resignation? Amaechi let God judge you

  7. I'm suspecting Amaechi of sponsoring those killings so he can blame Wike. Anyone who lives in PH knows that cultism is their way of life. It's not a Wike thing. Even Amaechi has cultists that are loyal to him. Let him go and yansh down....face his Oga buhari

  8. I hope the APC will present Dr Dakuku again because the ground work is on and every loose end is being tightened(even though him or Ameachi doesn't even know the magnitude of what is on ground internationally/locally). Rivers State needs to be rescued.

  10. I've never heard this minister discuss his vision and strategies for the transport ministry. Each time he grants an interview its to vent about Wike. Very very odd! Yet no one asked him to resign for not facing his day job. Always sounding so childish.
