Staff Explains The Drama Surrounding Swiss Pharma Nigeria Ltd And Why They Were Asked To Go Home!

Imagine getting to work to find out that you have been locked out of the premises and told to go home Until further notice!!!
This is wrong !!!!!

Good day SDK,

I have been your ardent reader ......I read your blog per minute per minute. My colleagues know me for that, that was why in our struggle yesterday, the asked me to send this news to SDK.

Please Stella help tell the world the truth about our company shutdown to correct the lies our MD is spreading on social media.

Our company Swiss pharma Nigeria Ltd around march 2017 was acquired by a french company called Biogaram

About 6months ago the employed a Managing Director Mr Gaby El Khoury a Lebanese and formal Jagal MD to manage the company. Since his employment he has turned things upside down to mention but a few;
1. Employed over 50 Jagal staff without interviewing them.
2. Demoted our managers, reduced their salaries and filled the positions with Jagal staffs who are not as qualified and experienced as the ones he demoted.
3.Converted our staffs who are paid based on commission of what the sold to staff with a monthly net salary of N50,000( Basic, Transport, housing inclusive.

SDK these are graduates and masters degree holders. Whose commission on sales are usually over N300,000naira monthly.

4. Imaging retirees who have spend their better life in Swipha where verbally ask to stop coming to work from 29th of Dec. Etc

On Dec 22, 2017 our national union body came to.have a meeting with him concerning his treatment towards the staff. He refused to listen to them. So we went on SIT DOWN APPROACH. Yesterday our national union met with his lawyer to resolve the issue. Instead of resolving it he sent us this message

"Notice to all Swipha Staff:
This is to inform you that the company has shut down operations till further notice. All staff are required to wait for further communication on date of resumption.
Signed: Management"

By yesterday morning he has stationed more than 30 mobile police men, a new security outfit with dogs to ensure we don't enter the premises.

    2. The MD is doing what he was brought in to do - shutdown the competition. The french company will now bring in their own products.

  2. What kind of wicked act is this? Imagine these Lebanese and Indians coming to our country to trample on the rights of citizens. And our govt will do nothing. May God help us the poor masses.

  3. And Nigerian gov will just sit and watch foreigners humiliate their citizens

  4. Same thing happened to us January 2015. After being owed August to December we resumed January 2016 only to find out a notice till further notice. We later heard he moved out and relocated to the USA and left over 8 staff stranded.

    3. Your dress determines how you are addressed. See how scruffy looking people collecting commision of over 300,000 look.

      Delete
    4. Surely, you don't expect the staff to come dressed in suits and ties and ladies in stilletos for a peaceful protest. Come and see some of the new people the Lebanese boss brought in from Jagal or wherever so that you can know the real meaning of scruffy. One was even chewing gum when he was being introduced as a new staff.Hian!!

  9. I blame the government, they do nothing to protect its own against exploitation and fair treatments from these foreign companies. This will die a natural death and these people will lose out.sorry dear, you should start looking for other options

  10. you said its a "limited" company and not a "plc", it was sold to a new manager...i know y'all feel bad and all but he owns the company and can pilot it the way he seem fit to and it doesn't matter whether he is a foreigner or not.
y'all just need to take heart and start up a business or something.
    goodluck.

    1. God bless You! He owns the company and You have no idea how much debt the company must have been in. 300k on commission might just be stealing from the company. The person who wrote this article with all the errors too wants to claim graduate that deserves a job there? This was what El-Rufai did to those incompetent teachers!

    2. The term stealing...Do you understand the term.Commission..guess you don't.
So who is the graduate here..Gaby Pr

    3. My dear he is not the owner of the company he ia a contract md, and if he want to do anyhow he want at least the law state that you have to pay off the staff then who ever want to work with him will come back to be re-employ and not forcing staff to accept your new condition of service and work with you.

  11. NIGERIANS, let’s boycott the Lebanese products. Since they have no regards for us, let’s make life unbearable for them too.

  12. Somebody will now call your country a shit hole and you will be angry. Truth be told, is it not a shit hole???

    1. It is oh! Proper Shit hole, when the leaders have no regards for the citizens of the country. Is it now a foreigner that would come and have regard?

  13. Why won't Lebanese and other nationals disrespect our citizens when our leaders (including labour leaders) are very insincere and greedy. Imagine how our people ruined the other telecom company thereby putting the jobs and livelihoods of many families on the line.

    1. Nigerian leaders don't care about the masses and why will I fault them when the youths will rather spend time online arguing about Bobrisky and Co. Other countries demanded good governance from their leaders but when it's time for us to come together and protest everyone chants "e no concern me". 2019 elections will start and you'll see youths campaigning for Atiku. Ask them why they don't want a younger person they'll say "he doesn't have experience" like experience made Trump the President. Sorry for occupying space under your comment.

      Delete
    2. Hmmm come and give me jist about that telecom company

      Delete
    3. The telecom company did not pay the concession fee to the Government for 10 years thereby owning $USD50m+ while the owner/MD was busy living large forgetting that the day of reckoning will always come. So their concession was revoked by the Government. Blame the Owner not the Government.

  14. I don't blame them, I blame our government and labour union who gave them so much power to treat us like foreigners in our own country. No wonder the South Africans are killing foreigners. This may be what they are passing through too, making them to take the laws into their hands since their government can't fight for them.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Why won't foreigners treat us like trash when some of the entrepreneur do worse. The owner of Elizade Toyota Nig.Ltd did worse. Since 2016, he continually reduces his workforce by terminating the appointment of his employees without any compensation except one month basic salary in-leu of notice. No gratuity, no compensation...nothing. After people used greater part of th their lives serving this scally-wag. From the said time till now, he sacked over 200 staff. Theresa, you were employed for this purpose I know..
Devil will visit you at his own appointed time to put you through worse treatment. Omo oshi.

  16. I understand that you people have been on strike since December 22, you go to work everyday just to seat down and gossip. The management decided to shut down until there is an agreement. Everyday you go to work without work the company is losing money. So, if the management decide to reduce its looses. Nothing wrong with that

    1. Get the facts right by reading the article. It was a seat down approach and not a strike for certain stated reasons.

Have you heard of where workers would just go to work,sit,gossip..
They should pay staff their gratuity, other entitled benefits..and stop using our people for understudy.
They don't want us, still don't want to let go..Na by force.
Gaby promised helping biogaran to avoid paying us our money, he's playing the music.
Nigerians, government stop selling yourselves to capital flight expatriates because of peanut's.
That's why a Lebanese can call Nigerians..MONKEYS..with banana you get them.

Let your union gather brains and mind. Get a good lawyer, preferable a SAN and institute a class action suit at he National Industrial Court. The lawyer will know the steps to take to even prevent them from taking further actions like sacking and replacing, even.if your terms of employmnt were unfair, all yansh go open for court....

It's just Nigerians too de shake to carry all these people go court, well, i know times are hard and people are usually afraid for their jobs and families. But this is the essence of having a union. Act Now!!! Drag them to court. Start with an injunction. Remembwr its a class action suit so every employee in involved ( apart from yhe new ones) Stay in court while using the power of social media against them.

    It's a fight, be ready.

And also, the truth of the matter is that, whenever there is MERGER OR ACQUISITION,the Predator company tends to sack staff of acquired company or they cut down on their salary....

      It is well.

  19. You think it’s wrong for you to be locked out by the management but you don’t see anything wrong with you refusing to work. If you are tired of the company, resign and go and get another job. My one kobo advice

    1. This a company one man can not wake up and decide to write a new condition of service when the company is not yours. If you want to take over a company why don't you pay the old staff and employ new once.

  20. if Lebanese and Indians are so bad, why do Nigerians still work in their companies? We have heard from this worker, what is the position of the company? We need to know

  21. You people should have expected the changes that are taking place in your company. Biogaran bought over swipha about a year ago, you should expect that there would be restructuring. If the former management ran the company well, there would have been no need for the new owners to come in.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It was a sad story! All these Lebanese and Indian are occupy best positions in Nigeria which they can have in their countries and stated maltreating our citizens working under them! God will surely punish them. Meanwhile, our Govt is there just folding there hands , They do nothing except fighting for there own pocket!

  23. So where is PCN come and fight for your fellow pharmacist.it's not just about collecting dues and shutting down PMS.

    ReplyDelete
  24. When a company buys another company, the workers of the purchased company should expect that there would be restructuring. Some old staff would be asked to go while some new workers would be brought in. That is what happens all over the world. What the old workers should insist on is their severance pay. Rushing to social media will not stop the owners of the company from doing what they want to do. The MD is a representative of the interest of the new owners, he must be doing what they want him to do.

    1. You just nailed the issue the MD is a rep of the new owners , he is playing out what they want all they need to do is to make sure all outstanding are paid ...shikena

    2. Thank you very much, that is what they are fighting for but he want the old staff to accept his new condition of service before he can pay them their gratuity, which he said no pharmercist is allowed to work in any pharmaceucal company for one year after leaving

  25. I have a close relative, who has worked here all his life, he was recently suddenly retrenched, it broke him. he gave his all to this company, started there as a fresh graduate. He never envisaged something like this could happen. He's now middle aged, unmarried and of course, his retirement benefits are the main issue now. I just pray he gets it.
