Archbishop Slams Politicians At Service For Late Dr Alex Ekwuemel -Must Read

The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Enugu, the Most Rev Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma at Ekwueme commendation service who preached the sermon, hit hard on Nigerian politicians, accusing them of being self-centred. This, he said, negated the kind of politics the late Ekwueme played while he was alive.

Bishop Chukwuma told the legion of politicians who were present at the service that they were playing politics of personal aggrandisement, adding, “Recycling yourselves in politics is a disgrace.” Chukwuma whose message at the sermon was “How prepared are you?” said the problem with politicians is that most of them do not have other careers aside playing politics.

He said; Thus said the Lord, set thy house in order, for thou shall die and not live. He explained further saying, "set thy house in order" was what the prophets told Isaiah. If I come to you Excellencies and tell you, set your house or set your state in order you will die. You will send the DSS behind me, but if they come the angels of God will defend me.

As ArchBishop, I don't believe in 70 years. 70 years although set by David in the psalm we read, is not the age for one to die. Seventy years is the age for retirement. Politicians are you hearing me. SEVENTY is the age of retirement!
At 70, you get your passport to heaven., at 80, you get your Visa. At 90, you get your tickets. At 100, you get your boarding pass. At 120, you fly.!

And the Federal Government said "fly him to London for oversea treatment, which again, I must say is a good idea. But it's a shame to Nigeria that many you big men cannot be treated in Nigeria. Flowing abroad is a disgrace to our health sector. We must do something about that. Not to continuing carrying out our vice presidents, presidents abroad, when there can't be even a panadol in the government, federal government, state house clinics. I hope there's panadol now. I hope the X-ray machine is working there. That is the first place to start fighting corruption.

Politicians listen to this! This man has something he was doing before he got into politics. Because so many of you are in politics but don't have anything doing, hence you are deserting yourselves day by day. He was a technical consultant to the World Bank educational projects. Because Ekwueme did not believe in bribery. He did not believe in rigging. Today when conventions are made in any of the parties., people carry Ghana-must-go, all around to make campaigns, to get themselves elected. And that's why, Nigeria has continue to be corrupt.

Even the present government came by corruption, so it's difficult to fight corruption. I once confronted a head of state, I said; those who use their state money to campaign for the presidency of Nigeria and so they are all given three states or three ministries; that is corruption. Many of you will ask yourself as politicians today, because this is one of the legacies you must learn from. He entered politics and he left it with poverty. Some of you have nothing, even local government chairmen. I know some of them, who had nothing but before they left, they have built two houses. And governors must begin to look at these chairmen, who have embezzled money rather than doing some work in the local government.

President Buhari, today paid a tribute to Ekwueme but unfortunately, 32 years ago, Buhari put Ekwueme into prison. And 32 years after, Ekwueme is dying in Buhari's government. That's to say that you people in the national assembly should be very careful and to propagate a law to stop this cross carpeting of parties of party members from one party to the other. That's political prostitution. You must stop it. It's a disgrace, it's selfishness. I cannot imagine someone who gained electoral post into Senate, coming now at a point in time to desert that party and crossing over. It's not right. If you cross over, then you must leave that party, you leave your post. That is our own submission.

Secondly, Southeast will not tolerate any colony. No colony for any Fulani herdsman! Any governor that does it, will be resisted. We in camp will resist any of you governors that will bring any colony here. We don't want any colonization. They should stay away. It's a private business. Kauduogbe should take them to Daura, sambisa forest. We don't want them here. The python dance we have here is enough, and they must go. Also, I want to say here, that as far as we are concerned as Igbos, we are very hardworking people. We must be recognized and must not be marginalised. Our governors must be united. Igbos must be united. Let us stand at one voice as Ekwueme stood for us.

Who again will stand as our unifying figure. Odumegwu Ojukwu has gone. Ekwueme has gone. Zik of Africa has gone. "Who again will stand for us"? Who again will stand for usThis is the question! Because the politics we are playing now is the politics of selfishness, materialistic tendencies and aggrandisement. And to stand, we must begin to stand selflessly on how to eradicate poverty in our land. "There's hunger in the land." There's hunger in the land!! Unemployment is worrying our youths. Begin to think about....If you have money, create employment for the youths and there will be no agitations.

Recycling yourself into politics with the money you have is a big disgrace. And if you have money, show it by the investing and let us have more employments. How are you spending your position? Anybody on top of positions should please for God's sake, remember those who are low before you. And you should know that one day you will leave this post. I saw a governor who was ex-governor, who will not allow people to come near him...but when he retired or was voted out, I saw him at the airport, nobody was ready to carry his bags, but when I came down, people were struggling for my bags.

Hence I said to myself, " because I am generous to people, people come near me. Governors make yourself accessible. All the governors (Ebonyi state, Abia) make yourself available to your people! Please make sure you eradicate poverty in your states. Also Imo State, Anambra State and all of you who are politicians, stop blowing this sirens for nothing. If you are blowing siren, what is the siren for! Is the siren for us or for your own selfishness?

Time is coming if you don't take time, of you don't take care of us, we shall block you and your sirens....and you will go nowhere. Because we elected you there and you must govern your constituency.

May God help us all, to be ready for new Nigerian. A new Nigeria needs people who are new in brain, not people who are expired and analogue brains. That is the finality. Let all those who are SEVENTY years and above in politics should go and retire. Anybody above 65 years should not be president of Nigeria. That's the limit we must seal! Let them become consultants and advisers. The people who are really hot in brain are waiting to become leaders and let them rule Nigeria well...rather than this analogue and analogue brains and all the cabals. Let them go and rest, because Nigeria needs a new brain and a new spirit. We can not put an old wine into a new wine skin. May God have mercy on us. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

  11. PVC this time is a scam. I was all and about this PVC thing on Tuesday to the extent that I was appealing to all around me to get theirs. The nearest centre to me was Sangotedo or Igbo efon local govt. I got to Sangotedo local govt only to be told that PVC exercise is yet to begin there that I should go to Badore primary school. I just weak. Imagine the recent traffic from Abraham Adesanya to get to Sangotedo now. After all that I still could not get my PVC done. Surprising thing is that Badore primary school is not even a centre online. Meaning alot of people have probably fallen to the scam like I did. I will still check tomorrow though, hopefully!
