Black Panther Lead Actor Chadwick Boseman Covers Latest Issue of Rolling Stone Magazine

Actor Chadwick Boseman, 41, who is the lead actor in the Black Panther movie, covers the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine.

In a chat with the magazine, he opened up on his recent movie role, owning his blackness, playing the superhero, and more.

Speaking on the movie production, he said: The money and manpower it takes to create this entire African world – it's a huge production," says Boseman. "But this is not Star Wars – this is a black superhero movie!" On one hand, he still can't believe it's happening. But on the other hand – why shouldn't it happen? Moreover, says Boseman, "What would it mean if it didn't happen? You'd be saying there's a second class of Marvel movies. A second-class citizenship."

Speaking on owning his blackness, he said: The film's blackness is inseparable from its appeal. "Some [black] actors will say, 'I don't want to play a character just because he's black,' " he says. "And that's great, I'm not saying they're wrong. But that's missing all the richness that's been whitewashed."

"There's a lot of great things happening," Boseman allows. "If you think about Barry [Jenkins], Ava [DuVernay], Ryan – it's a renaissance of black film. But it's still not enough. It's a numbers thing. If you have 15 shots, I got three. If you have nine chances to mess up, I have one. Each one of us knows that if you mess up, your career is done. I see the intensity. I see how Ryan is. If you have a dud, you'll never work in this town again."

He laughs. "Correct me if I'm wrong!"

  6. The guy no pack well, why is his thing on one side.

  7. lovely movie, the technology was mad.

  8. ooooohhh black panther! ages of the dark skin colour. blacks are indeed taking over the world of technology, education, science, beauty, fashion and vast rich tradition. Even if Donald trump call us shit hole, it doesn't matter as long as I use white tissue to wipe out my black ass. Even if the whites call us black monkey and uses the 'N' word on us it doesn't matter as long as we strong as the panther and screw their females so well on bed till they want some more. Lupita nyogo is so beautiful in the film.
