Court Denies Husband Killer Maryam Sanda Bail Despite 3-month Pregnancy Claim

Justice Halilu Yusuf of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) high court has again denied granting bail to Maryam Sanda, wife of late Bilyamin Bello bail who is standing trial for culpable homicide and conspiracy despite her 3 months pregnancy claim.

Maryam's counsel, Daudu Joseph today told the court to grant her bail because of her pregnancy and the fact that she needed to take care of her 6-month-old baby. My lord, the new fact is that she is three months pregnant and I have done my research,” Daudu told the court.

However, the prosecuting counsel, James Idachaba, asked the court to reject the application on grounds that it constituted an abuse of court of process. Halilu ruled in favour of the prosecutor, saying it would amount to toeing “a path of destruction” to grant Sanda bail since the applicant’s notice of appeal against the court was still pending. It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for his (Daudu’s) argument to sway this court. The argument has not in anyway swayed me. The application is liable to be struck out and it is accordingly struck out, the judge ruled.

Maryam and her baby are being remanded at the Suleja prison. The judge adjourned the matter until March 19th 2018.

*Can they not take this child from her and give to a relative?Nobody should grant bail based on her excuses...She killed in cold blood.

  2. Suits her. The child should be given to her people or husband's people. Let her go to jail. She isn't even remorseful. What a soul.

  5. Why is her baby being remanded with her, they should collect the baby from her nah abi did the baby commit the crime with her.
This woman appears to be very manipulative and heartless, a genuine mother won't use her baby to draw sympathy, a real mother will make sure her baby doesn't suffer in any way but this one is going as far as carrying the baby to prison, so that people will pity her.
If she committed a crime she should face the consequences and stop trying to use people's head

    3. Her consolation from what exactly? Consolation from the murder she committed I guess?
Sympathy you say? How can you sympathize with a killer? Pray you don't become her next victim.

  6. God, my heart constantly breaks when i see the baby, because, this girl is scarred for life. A girl that could have the world at her feet is now sleeping in jail. It is unfair, I just wish all this could go away somewhere. If i had so much money, I would adopt the baby and lobby for a ife imprisonment or long-term for the mother. At least, the baby gets to visit the mother and the mother sees her as the only ray of sunshine. God have mercy.

  11. This Maryam should stop suffering this little baby now. The baby did not commit the murder with you, why make her suffer with you? Please release the baby to your mother or mother in law and do your time. If you're thinking that you will go free after killing somebody NO! But let your child have her freedom, they can't release you because of that child, you're just suffering that child unnecessarily.
