Drama In Court Has Wife Reveals Her 5th Husband's Wife Has 3 Secret Wives..

Polygamous Brouhaha indeed!!!...What a life!

A 42-year-old businesswoman on Wednesday told Igando Customary Court, Lagos that her fifth husband, Rufus Otegbola, was an unrepentant polygamist.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Funmilayo who was responding to a divorce suit filed by her husband, said her husband had three wives in secret.

She said “My husband deceived me. He did not tell me that he had three wives before marrying me.

“He impregnated me and hurried me into his house without legal marriage.

“I discovered that he already had three wives living with him and there was nothing I could do since I was pregnant, I had to stay.

“My husband beats me all time and even when I was pregnant, he beats hell out of me; I fell into labour immediately, forcing the delivery of the baby.

“As a result of the frequent beating, on May 9, 2016, I packed my belongings from his house and moved to my parent’s house.

“When he lost his job, I was the one feeding him with his wives and their children and I was also paying the school fees of our children and my step children.”

The mother of four, however, consented to the dissolution of the marriage, saying “I am also fed up with the union”.

Rufus had told the court that his wife, Funmilayo, is a serial divorcee as he is the fifth husband of the respondent.

Rufus said “My wife is adulterous and a serial divorcee, she had married and divorced four husbands before I married her.

“Funmilayo is diabolical and fetish, she always comes home with charms and my fear is that she may kill me one day if I do not end the marriage.”

Rufus said that his wife packed out of their matrimonial home without his consent.

“My parent-in-law and my wife’s siblings came to my house to pack my wife’s property without my permission,” he said.

He urged the court to end the marriage as he was no longer in love with her.

In his judgment, the President of the court, Mr Akin Akinniyi, noted that the estranged couple were tired of the marriage as all efforts to reconcile them had failed.

“Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage.

“The court pronounces the marriage between Mr Rufus Otegbola and Mrs Funmilayo Otegbola dissolved today, both parties henceforth ceased to be husband and wife.

“Both are free to go their separate way without any hindrances and molestation,” ‎it held.

    1. And what happens to the couple's four kids; who takes care financially?
And why was there a "divorce suit" in "a non-legal marriage"?

    1. Where I'm from, Igbo land, the groom does not hand over the bride price. His people (father, uncles etc) pay bride price to the bride's people. So, your people or your father should call his people that he wants to visit, and take the bride price back to his father or guardian . End of story. Abi you never inform your parents say you no want again?. As for divorce, get a lawyer file for divorce and follow up

    2. You can get a legal separation for a marriage of less than two years but you cannot officially file for divorce since the marriage isn’t yet 2 years, except you can find grounds to nullify it.

Get a lawyer. You’ll get better understanding. No energy for long story here

And yeah, as said above, inform your people. It is your family that will go meet his for a refund. It’s not your place. You did not collect the bride price for yourself. If his family refuses, involve the village head and village council. His family wouldn’t want that kind of scandal
