Gov Ikpeazu Calls For increased Public And Private Partnership In Economic Development

Abia state Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has called on the Federal Government to remove all impediments that hinder economic growth in South East geopolitical zone.




Ikpeazu made the call during South east regional stakeholders Forum with the theme Ease of Doing Business, Reforms and implication For SME held in Aba. He regretted that stifle measures imposed on some federal government agencies have hindered business activities in the zone.


The Governor emphasized the need for increase public and private partnership in the economic development of the country and thanked the Federal Government for its efforts in boosting business growth in a conducive environment.

He explained that his administration, apart from creating conducive environment for the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises in Abia state and its enablers, everything is driven through internet, especially the pre-paid cash for agents, healthcare delivery in Abia state.

The Governor announced that government is planning the pre-paid cash system to ease business transaction, urging the people of south east zone to redouble efforts in fast-tracking business activities in the region.

Speaking at the event, The Senior Special Adviser to the President on trade and investment, Dr. Uduoke oluwale acknowledged that South East region, especially Abia state remains the industrious and manufacturing hub of Nigeria, and called for a greater collaboration between the state and the federal government.


She noted that the federal government was working tirelessly in creating a business friendly atmosphere in the country in the areas of solid minerals, Agriculture, commerce and industries, infrastructure among others.
