Seun Kuti's "Black Times" Album Reaches No8 On Billboards World Music Charts

Afro beat crooner Seun Kuti is indeed soaring high in his music career.

His latest album, ‘Black Times’ is currently No 8 on the Billboards World Music Charts.

Seun's father, Fela Kuti had also made it to the billboard charts. His album 'Live in Detroit' was number 9 on the Billboard World Music Chart in 1986.

  1. I've always liked his music ahead of Femi! He's more talented!

    1. Very talented my dear! And he doesn't make noise. Targets global markets more, too.

Ghanaman, I won't exactly say Seun is better than Femi. Both are good saxophonists who can blow circles of amazing seven notes in a scale (assuming you know your music well).

Femi has been nominated for the Grammy's several times, broken a world record set by Kenny G in 1997 for longest single note held on a Sax, and has had international recognition and affiliations way before Seun did ( signed to Motown, worked with Mos Def and Common long before Nigerian artistes were getting such shine) which addresses Chikito's assertion that Femi targets global markets more.

In all, I think comparisons between both siblings will be somewhat unnecessary as they are both doing real good in same genre of music.

I'm more interested in seeing how easy it would be for Seun's son to step into the giant shoes of his grandfather, Fela, his father Seun and uncle, Femi.
