US Sec Of State Tillerson Ignores President Trump During Farewell Speech

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has thanked the American people, his State Department staff and the nation's extensive network of diplomats in an at times emotional farewell statement on Tuesday.

One person he did not thank: President Donald Trump, the man who nominated him for the job but abruptly told the world of his ouster in a tweet on Tuesday morning.

The only mention of Trump came at the top of the statement when Tillerson mentioned that the President had called him at "a little after noontime from Air Force One" to talk about his ouster. That call came hours after Trump told the world he was replacing the former oil tycoon with CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

Tillerson told reporters he is delegating all his authorities at the end of Tuesday and that his tenure will officially end on March 31. Highlighting what he considers key accomplishments from his year in the top US diplomatic post, Tillerson mentioned his efforts to bring North Korea to the negotiating table through a "maximum pressure campaign. Working with allies, we exceeded the expectations of almost everyone with the DPRK maximum pressure campaign.

He also highlighted progress in Afghanistan and in the global campaign against ISIS in Syria. Tillerson also called out Russia, saying "much work remains to respond to the troubling behavior and actions on the part of the Russian government."

Tillerson's comments criticizing Russia come after a year of Trump largely avoiding a direct confrontation with the country. Trump has also yet to detail how his administration plans to penalize Russia for meddling in the 2016 election.

  1. Trump is just simply too disrespectful. How on earth can you do this to someone holding an important position in your administration. It’s okay if he didn’t want him anymore but to announce it on Twitter first before calling him is bad. Well, Tillerson should never have taken the position in the first place. The moment he criticized Russia, he should have known he is done. Well, he will keep nominating and firing till he won’t find anyone else willing to work for him. The Justice Department has lots of openings and same in the state Department. No loyalty at all.
On an unrelated note, Stephen Hawking has passed on. Didn’t know he was married twice with kids. I wonder how they did it. Make una nor vex oo just wondering though.

He sent him to Africa and fired him!!!
Trump.is a man who cares only about himself.
In as much as there are some things I admire in this guy he is too self absorbed to be a good leader.
The way he treats people who are loyal or have shown loyalty to him says a lot about his values.
People who went out on a limb for him have been messed up and hung out to dry just for no other reason but for his selfish interests.
Bannon, Flynn, Scarramuci, his former chief of staff Priebus, his lawyer in the Stormy Daniels case, now Tillerson are just the few in a long list of his 'victims'.

He doesn't care about loyalty,he just wants you to fan his ego even at the cost of the truth.

John Kelly might just be next in line.

  2. It’s a good thing he never mentioned him. That’s the end of their relationship.
Trump was mean to Tillerson. I read somewhere that while in China, Trump tried to force him to eat Salad.
Even the Omarosa that was fired, I didn’t know her Father was a Nigerian. He was killed here when she was young.

  3. Trump is a very unconventional guy, does things his own crooked ways. Like him or hate him, he's a very interesting character and the world should expect more of this kind as long as he remains POTUS.
