Nigerian Students Fight Over Whose Father Is The Richest

TWO wealthy Nigerians battered a fellow student with a shisha pipe in a ‘childish’ argument over whose father was the richest.

Elvis Ilonze 20, who is so rich he had his top-of-the-range Mercedes covered in fur, attacked childhood friend Prince Nnaji in the Brighton flat they shared.

Mr Nnaji tried to escape but Ilonze, with another pal Daniel Oluyemi, 24, chased him down and beat him with a wine bottle on April 7 last year.

Mr Nnaji’s girlfriend, Louanna Rayawa, tried to stop the attack but was pushed to the ground by Ilonze. The pair also assaulted law student Chiedozie Dibiagwu, 23, who was sitting nearby.

Mr Nnaji and Ilonze knew each other from Nigeria, but when Mr Nnaji said he had the richer father Ilonze decided to ‘teach him a lesson’.

Ilonze, of Hendon, and Oluyemi, of Colindale, London, both pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to two counts of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. Judge Christine Laing suspended a year’s custodial sentence for both for 18 months to give them a ‘last chance’.

She said: ‘Unlike many of the people who pass through the courts you both come from backgrounds of privilege.

‘It couldn’t be more childish — who’s got the richer dad — that started this fight. You both appear to be incredibly immature, perhaps as a result of being cosseted in your upbringing.’

Ilonze is a year from completing a masters degree in engineering at Sussex university. His barrister Tom Hoskins said he would face deportation if jailed for more than a year.

Oluyemi, an accountancy student at Sussex, is due to become a father. His barrister, Jonathan Page, said he should be at home, preparing for the ‘momentous occasion’.

There are actually some things the courts takes into consideration, they didnt jail them cos they are not nonentities, yeah they behaved childish fighting over what's not, they are good students making something out of their lives and they are rather young,20-23yrs though not underaged, and it's like they are first offenders, they've never had any record.
