    7. Just to correct you. Justice Odili was the most senior after Tanko. They propped Tanko to stay on until Justice (Mrs) retired because they didn’t want a PDP asset that she is at the helm. As she’s retired he’s next in line. It was Tanko, Odili, Ariwoola in that hierarchy.

  6. Your statement is not correct about the qualification of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad (Retd.)

No matter the dissatisfaction with a person's capacity and about how he became the occupant of an office/position, the facts about him should be correctly stated.

Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad (Retd.) has a LL.B. He attended the Nigerian Law School. He later specialised in Islamic Law. The Nigerian Constitution provides for appointment of specialists in Customary Law and Islamic Law in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Ascension to the post of CJN of Nigeria is by appointment based usually on seniority of the Justices on the bench of the Supreme Court. This seniority system is not in the Constitution or law but by custom of the Judiciary. So in some cases it is not followed. Justice I.T. Muhammad was the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court at his appoinment just as Justice Ariwoola is the most senior now and has been appointed acting CJN.
