      I am writing this out of fear nd uncertainty. My man proposed to mi yesterday. I said yes but I av been having doubts. He is Igbo from Anambra State nd I am Yoruba. ‎We re in love, my man is amazing to me, a good Christian nd I met his parents once‎. They re nice people but I didn't hav the opportunity to know them well‎

      My worry is I hav heard so many stories about Igbo in-laws nd inasmuch as I love my man, I don't wanna suffer or be treated as Ofe manu when I marry him‎

      Please can BVs help me out? Okija Wife, Eze Wanyi, Linda Eze...all the mature Igbo/Anambra people ‎on SDK blog. I need to know what I'm getting myself into. Such marriages are not common

      Bkog visitor 101, the only reason an Anambra guy would want to marry you is if you or your father has a big oil company. Anambra people are racists when it comes to marriage. Don't accept the proposal first. You need to travel to the village to spend time with his parents at least for a week before you can agree whether to marry him or not.       None of my brothers married from Naija talkless of Anambra..Yes,my people can be tribalistic depending on the family...I think its more common with illiterates and those ones in the east..

      Blog visitor 101, there is no need to be afraid unless you are not sure of your decision to marry this person. Forget all the myths about marrying from here or there and go into your marriage on a positive note and with an open mind. If your prospective in laws didn't approve of you, you would have known from your encounter with them. Be yourself and treat your new family as you would want to be treated and you will be fine. Don't be anxious or bend backwards to please, it will come off like you are desperate to be accepted. Also don't start what you can't continue. The law of sowing and reaping; seed time and harvest will always apply so bear that in mind in anything you do. Commit your coming wedding, marriage, prospective in laws, your concerns etc into God's hands and He will accomplish your heart desires.
