News On Monday - Bright Faced Like Governor Suntai Of Taraba

 TEN THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS MONDAY

1. The All Progressives Congress has said it was not planning to issue automatic ticket to former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) or any other presidential aspirant in the party. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Lai Mohammed who stated this on Sunday said it was not part of the party’s constitution to offer anyone automatic ticket.

Ailing Governor of Taraba State, Dambaba Suntai has arrived Abuja after months of medical treatment in the United Kingdom. Suntai’s piloted plane had crashed on Oct. 25, 2012 in Yola, with some of his aides. The accident reportedly caused him grave brain damage...he looks so good.

He was received by Mr Darius Ishaku, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Rev. Jolly Nyame, a former Taraba governor, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha, Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture, among others. 

Ishaku told newsmen that the governor was in good health, adding that he could now take over the responsibility of governing the state. However, in the video you will see after the cut of the governor addressing the press, Gov Danabaa Suntai failed to recognize that he had just returned from London. He kept on saying instead "I am just coming from Abuja" last night at the Guest House of retired General TY Danjuma in Asokoro area of Abuja.

2. The Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, in an electronic mail on Sunday, said a Nigerian Air Force Alpha jet on an operation against the militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram was missing. He disclose that the jet, marked NAF 466, disappeared from the radar on Friday. He further disclosed that the plane with only two crew members on board left Yola at about 10:45am on September 12, 2014 on a routine operational mission and did not return as expected. He said efforts were being made to find out what exactly went wrong.

3. The founder and General overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet T. B. Joshua has said that the recent incident of collapsed building in his church was Boko Haram attack.
Joshua, who told members of his church on Sunday not to be afraid, said the attack was targeted at killing him. He showed the congregation a video where a jet hovered around the building before the incident to further justify his claims.

4. The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has advised a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, to henceforth stop visiting party formations in the state. The party alleged that such visit was causing disaffection within the party and the need to put it on hold. The advice was contained in alter signed by the party’s state secretary, Mr. Semiu Sodipo. The letter dated September 12, 2014, was titled ‘Stoppage of Your Unapproved Tours/Political Campaigns.’

5. Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu has denied media reports that his wife was one of those injured in the TAN rally held in the state recently. The Governor wondered where such news came from even when nothing of such happened to his wife.

6. The feud between Governor Danbaba Suntai and his Deputy, Garba Umar took a different turn Saturday midnight when the Deputy Governor was prevented from seeing the Governor upon his return from treatment abroad at the Abuja international Airport. His attempt to also see the Governor in his hotel room also proved abortive as Governor was said to be sleeping.

7. A speed boat belonging to Okera-Nla Boat Association in Ajah area of Lagos, weekend capsized, killing four persons while one is said to be missing at press time. Report says the capsized boat had 22 passengers and was heading to Bayeku from Oke-Ira.

8. No fewer than twenty persons were killed yesterday and many others injured when Fulani herdsmen reportedly invaded Tunari village in Wukari Local Government of Taraba State. The attackers were said to have stormed the village at 10 am and set houses ablaze while most residents were still in church.

9. Members of the House of Representatives will after 56-days break reconvene tomorrow to debate the $1 billion request from President Goodluck Jonathan to combat Boko Haram and security problems in Nigeria. House Committee Chairman on rules and business, Rep Albert Sam-Tsokwa,PDP, Taraba, revealed this yesterday, stating that other sundry issues would be discussed.

10. Nigerian Golden Eaglets, were defeated 2-1 by Gabon on Sunday in their final round first leg 2015 African U-17 qualifier at the Stade Augustin Moneda de Sibang in Libreville. Report says Victor Osimhen gave the Golden Eaglets an early fourth minute goal while the Gabon levelled up through Moubouhy Ngouba and got the winner through Maomikolo Boundembi at the 80th minute of the game...culled from dailypost

I resigned from my job at Globacom and I'm currently in the United States on a student visa and supposed to be studying for my Masters in Information Technology at Bentley University in Boston,  Massachusetts. Now the fees was not properly broken down for me, I just found out after I got here that it costs about $50,000...My only option right now is to transfer out asap- before Tuesday, else I'll be reported to Homeland Security and lose my visa status. I have to raise $2000 between now and Monday to pay for a GRE course at Kaplan International, to give me more time to transfer to a much cheaper school in Spring.
I can't sleep anymore cos I have just 2 days to raise $2000. Is there anything you can do for me please? No matter how little.  This would go a long way...I don't have anyone to turn to right now. Pls help me.
