Huh?
Effects of Multiple Pregnancy
Hi Stella-of-Life,
Please I'm planning to use assisted reproductive technology to get a multiple pregnancy. Help me ask the doctors and BVs the effects of multiple gestation and birth (carrying twins, triplets and so on) on a woman's health, body and lifestyle in general (medical, financial, social, psychological). Is it advisable? Are there any bad side - effects?
Advice is also welcome from mothers of twins and triplets
I love twins and I want dem too. God please grant me dis wish.
ReplyDelete@poster...if your sole aim of undergoing ART is purely cos of birthing twins, then I'd advice u shaping your mind for disappointments aswell cos ART isn't a 100% guarantee ud birth twins...u might end up having a singleton foetus or even having quadruplets or more...u also have to bear in mind those!!!
DeleteAs for the above question...if u are FINANCIALLY stable, then i see no problem. noticed i used caps in stating financially...although it's got lotsa psychological effect attached to it *u don't need to be a mother to know that*...as for its health implications, provided u ain't gona exclusively breast feed them,ud be fine
If you conceive naturally and it happens to be twins or triplet, it's fine.
DeleteBut using assisted techtechnology comes with it's drama.
I know someone that did that for triplet. Though she has been looking for the fruit of the womb for more than 10years and resorted to iivf for triplet. A lot of complications and she ended up birthing just one as two died before she got to 38 weeks.
Everyone is different sha
Just saying
In all, we can only ask God to take control.
All the best!

Deletepls someone suggest any hosp around onipanu..palmgrove where i can successfully treat stap. i v been battling wt ds fr two yrs now and oga stap no wan let me go. pls i need d name of a good hosp wt a good gyne bfr oko akogbuo m
DeleteGo to bariga market, ask for the alagbos there, tell them you have staph and explain your symptoms. They will give u an ago to use for 2 weeks. Side effect is you might start breaking out, when u are done with the treatment, go to any pharmacy around you, buy apple cider vinegar (braggs or anyone with the mother). Drink two table spoons of ACV mixed with a cup of water every morning and night for one month. (side effect is you might loose weight). After this procedure go for a test and you will be staph free. I know people that have spent so much money in the hospital and in a matter of 6 weeks their problems were solved. Everybody is different but u can give it a try.
DeleteAm a guy and also need a cure for staph, I have been suffering for 2 years too. I took intramuscular treatment but it still came back. Where I never go? I have entered all sorts of labs and hospitals. But am in delta state, how can I get this medicine/its cure?
DeleteStella my comment should kindly be approved please. I have suffered from staph alot
DeleteGo to jaiyeola hospital at famous bus stop along the bariga road from palm grove. Dr George there is a very good doctor.
DeleteWhats staph plz, excuse my ignorance a fool who ask a question is only a fool until answered n the one who keeps quiet is a fool for a life time

Kai.. I dont like narratives such as these.. The market women and all others that carries twins and triplets did they go to the hospital to confirm about side effects. Meehn.. Some ajeborism is gradually getting out of hand...
ReplyDeleteOver to mothers
DeleteLol @ajeborism. You are so funny.
DeleteOga G - pharm, it's not really ajeborism to be honest. For the market women and others who bear them naturally, they didn't have a choice. But if she decides to tread the medical path and pay to artificially carry twins or triplets doesn't she have the right to ask if it has any effects.
DeleteAllah kuwai, madam ur doctors @d IVF centre owe u ds explanation, ure entitled to d best, ure nt payn millions of naira 4 nothing
Delete@Gpharm - LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteMy name for dis is sitdown dey read.
ReplyDeleteThank you GPharm. My mum gave birth to me and my sister. No side effect.
ReplyDeleteajebutters will not kill someone.
Madam you are trying to tell God that people with triplets, will have side effects.

Madam go and get your triplets you will be fine just keep praying to God to sustain you during the period.

@G_PHARM your comment is all shades of wrong.....Those market women got pregnant through natural conception but this bv is doing hers the other way round.
ReplyDeleteIt is only wise to know the side effects.
Poster u never ready to get belly.
ReplyDeleteUr belly will be long n big like yokozuna!
That's what I know o!
I did same and ended up with 6 in my uterus(sixtuplets) the fear my hubby and I went through cause I already have a son, like if we make it 7 kids? Sch fees o! How many nannies do we employ? That's if I make it o! Cause a lot of ppl I knw with just 3 couldn't carry till d end. So we went to a fertility clinic in India and got a reduction. My triplets were born at 34 weeks and 5 days. My sister i'm young but I went through something. It was painful to walk, to turn in bed, it wasn't an easy ride at all but I thank God. All I can say is, it was painful but worth it. Sometimes I think of what d other 3 wld av looked like but God knows we had to. My triplets are 8 months old today.
ReplyDeleteChineke! U murdered ur babies? OMW! I won't judge u though but lord ve mercy is all I can say. Mind u! It's killing too!

DeleteSTFU Anon 13:46...fool...
DeleteMadam wait on God na.... It is only God that gives o
ReplyDeleteG.pharm u talk like this cause u have no idea what some women go through. Haven gone through d process I knw a lot of women who have as well. Two of them lost their triplets at 6 months. The babies just came out one after d other despite all d Dr's did. There can be health risks like gestational diabetes, HBP,and a lot of other factors. Everybody get him own grace o! Madam pls stick to twins it's easier to manage but if God gives u more,he'll give u d strength. I've been there. 2dy my triplets r 8 months n gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI am also interested in this topic, cos l want to know how to go about it.Let me sit and read advice from doctors in the house.

ReplyDeleteRisk for low birth weight and premature delivery, organs not fully developed (and they have to stay in the NICU). But God is the ultimate healer, your case might be different.I can go on but I don't want to scare you. Check the babycenter for more information.
ReplyDeleteFinancially - money for diapers, formular, and daycare if you decide to go back to work.
on the effect and health, I think your family doctor should be in a better position to advice you seeing he/she has your medical history.
ReplyDeleteAs for lifestyle, it depends on your financial and social status.
If I hear! Babe, don't try it with a doctor's supervision n approval. If it is not natural, then DONT do it. There are lots of side effects. I also wanted to do it but d risk involved is way too high. So many complications can come up later on. D best thing to do is See a Doctor.
ReplyDelete#……not assisted by any technology.

MULTIPLE PREGNANCY IS A HIGH RISK PREGNANCY.
ReplyDeleteMULTIPLE PREGNANCY IS A COMPLICATION OF ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGY(ART),AND NOT THE SOLE AIM OF ART.
THE AIM OF ART IS TO ASSIST COUPLES WHO CANNOT CONCEIVE THE NATURAL WAY TO HAVE CHILDREN.
A LOT ÒF SERIOUS COMPLICATIONS CAN ARISE FROM ART.
PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO HAVE DIED FROM ART.
SO POSTER BEWARE!!!
USE ART ONLY FOR THE RIGHT AND MEDICAL REASONS.
financial aspect is more important

ReplyDeleteFrom experience, multiple pregnancy is stressful Ooo. Was on drips for the better part of my twins and by six months I was so heavy, always holding my lower abdomen because the place always felt heavy. In fact people thought I was due, though I had them at 8th. 2.4 and 2.7kg respectively and healthy too, there was no need for incubator. Even sleeping position for me chaiiii no be here, always had plenty of pillow and sleeping in a sitting position.
ReplyDeleteI must also tell you that our bodies are not the same, so your experience may be different. All the best. Pardon my gbaguns am in a seminar and they sneak read SDK. Lol
Thanks for the advice

Your own better you have the means to try this option. Some are just asking God for one child to take away their reproach. God will grant these women their heart's desire, IJN Amen.
ReplyDeleteMy take is when you guys decide to have let's say 6 fertilized, they become live embryos, then later you decide to take 3 and succeed, wetin una go do with the remainder????? Abandon it in the hospital laboratory till it dries up & dies, sell them, give orders to destroy, kill them?? No be murder be that? Make we fía God oo. Make we respect God oo Hmmmm.
Consider the moral implication of this whole thing. Psychologically & emotionally make your mind no go run you cray cray with guilt, that might lead to severe postpartum depression after birthing their bros & sis. Then u start acting strange & person no go fit understand wetin dey worry your head. Na so kolo fit start small small.
I guess you're financially stable to even consider this option.
Medically, you have to check with the doctors you're seeing, if your uterus (womb) is strong enough to carry multiple embryos to full term. If your cervix is tight enough to withstand the weight of the growing bambinos, so you won't loose them through gravitational force. If you are healthy enough. I will advice, no Hypertension, so you won't be a candidate of pre-eclampsia in the 3rd trimester.
Oya, start exercising, watch your blood sugar levels, live a healthy lifestyle to prepare your body.
I wish you the best.
Premature labour, low birth weight, cystic fibrosis to name a few...
