Billy Bush Officially Leaves NBC In The Wake Of 'Access Hollywood' Tape

Billy Bush is officially out at NBC, 10 days after various news portals published a hot-mic recording of the former “Access Hollywood” host engaging in a vulgar conversation with GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“I am deeply grateful for the conversations I’ve had with my daughters, and for all of the support from family, friends and colleagues,” Bush said in a statement Monday. “I look forward to what lies ahead.”
NBC praised Bush, who most recently worked on the “Today” show, as “a valued colleague and longtime member of the broader NBC family.”
“We wish him success as he goes forward,” the network said in a statement.

Bush was suspended from his  “Today” show job last week, days after his 2005 conversation with Trump began dominating presidential campaign news. Reports he would not be returning  to the morning show soon followed.

Bush hired attorney Marshall  Grossman to negotiate his exit. Grossman claimed Bush wasn’t in a position to challenge Trump during their conversation, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “If Billy had been passive or responded ‘Shut the f**k up’ to Trump, Billy would have been out of a job the next day.”
Details of Bush’s exit package weren’t disclosed. The New York Post estimated the former host could receive $10 million.

Bush, a longtime NBC employee, was only three months into a three-year contract with the “Today” show, where he was making about $3.5 million a year, sources told

Bush said in a statement following the “Access Hollywood” tape’s release that he was “embarrassed and ashamed.” He added: “I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”

  1. Hmmm, if Nigeria was like this, Dino melaye wuda been out of d senate house.

    1. Amen to that. Fred Amata will not be so popular, Emeka Ike too, Frank Edoho will not continue hosting the show after the scandal broke. This one na talk dem talk e dey shame,Naija who do sef never shame not to talk of who talk.

    2. You're right. But he's there. SeaTed upon the chair. And that General Zod, Don Mayor, peace maker and redbotawhatever will come and be defending soldier that slapped a woman. See ppl in the 'real' world getting scaked over verbal comments. Not even physical injury. Verbal. Later we blame Buhari for our problems. The average nigerian man with their local mentality that women should be treated as trash are not better than the eggheads in our senate house.

  2. poor man, if it all happened in Nigeria , he would have been hailed by women sef .. they would have said it is ‘sense of humor' and slide it one side .

  3. How sad! Lesson learnt: Watch whatever comes out of your mouth today, you don't know where you'll be tomorrow. And it might come biting you real bad.

  4. And the man that bragged about grabbing women by the pxxx is still shamelessly in the race to become the president of the USA?

  5. But na wa o, the guy just responded to Donald's silly talk na

  6. But na wa o, the guy just responded to Donald's silly talk na

May my comments or write up not come up years later to hunt me, Amen.

  9. The past came to visit.
    Happy Birthday to Moi.
