Labour Room DRAMA -101

Wow,talk about drama!

Where do I start from? Hmmmm!

OK . I had gone past my due date meaning I was 10 months preggers and labour no gree come not even false labour, at 41 weeks 1 day being the second week of my tenth month of pregnancy which was also my antenatal day I packed my hospital bags knowing that there was no English the doctors will speak that will make me leave the hospital without being admitted and induced.

Meanwhile the standard is that induction takes place at 41 weeks 3days (Acc to them 40 weeks and 10 days) but I couldn't wait for the two days I had left to elapse because of the discomfort that came with late pregnancy, there are so many pregnancy symptoms that nobody talks about and you only find out about them when you get there...

Like my vagina was always hot and itchy with thick discharges and I had no infection. I always had to lie down and open my legs for air to touch that place and when the is no light I will use my handfan n fan the place not my body o.

Back to my gist, I was admitted to the glory of God cos the doc knew I was serious and that night my induction process started. They started with inserting the balloon catheter to ripen my cervix and for the first time through out my pregnancy I felt something called pain. The next day I was moved to the labour ward from the prenatal ward and the balloon catheter was removed. As soon as it was removed my contractions stopped. A few hours later when the docs came to see how things were progressing they said nothing was happening .

A few minutes later another doc came and gave me mipropostol to put under my tongue and after I took it contractions started and I took it like a man, when he checked at that point I was 4cm dilated . Two hours later I was checked again n I was still at 4cm so they decided to break my water that was when what I thought was the real pain started and I still took it like a man; I didn't make any noise and the nurses were impressed.

Another two hours later the doc came to check and said I was still at 4cm so she decided to augment my labour with pitocin drip I begged her that I didn't want it cos of stories I heard about the drip but she went ahead and before I knew it I lost my guard and I was on the floor of the hospital that once irritated me lying down naked screaming and rolling until the doc came in to tell me to get up from the floor so I don't get an infection. I asked for an epidural and I was told they don't administer it (u know how naija can carry last)

I now started screaming for a c.s but the doc no even answer me she just said am progressing well so they won't be any need for that and she walked away leaving me alone in my agony meanwhile my oga was somewhere drinking beer with his friends in celebration of his first child that was on the way since they don't allow men inside the labour ward or delivery room.

Moreover my contractions started coming with the poo feeling ( dis poo be like diarrhea wan do person ) and the urge to push. I started shouting that I wanted to push and the nurses checked n told me to hold it that Its not yet time to push. That was when my hell multiplied by 100 cos the drip was at work, my brothers and sisters the drip started pushing my baby with every contraction I screamed down the hospital that the thing was pushing by itself and this pushing came with goose bumps and the diarrhea feeling and it would stretch me out from my curved up position.

That was when I started shouting for the baby to be cut out of my stomach but nobody answered me after some minutes they came to check and said I was full and I was told to put my legs on the bed, hold my ankles look at my navel and push and my daughter was out after about four pushes meanwhile during the push I was given two tears and I screamed in pain when they were tearing me.

After I was stitched up and all my bleeding refused to stop the nurses checked n checked n cleaned up my womb removing blood cloths until there was nothing to remove again but the bleeding didn't stop; they called the doc in again and when she checked she said I had cervical laceration and then my cervix was stitched without anaesthetic so you can imagine the pain I went through feeling every stitch.

My brothers and sisters hubby was called to come and sign papers from where he was enjoying while I was in pain and bleeding. He came saw his daughter in the nursery and pretended to enter the delivery room by mistake and saw them working on me and he blew me a kiss b4 they pursued him. I gave birth by 9:32pm but I didn't leave the delivery room till 6am when I was wheeled out after the bleeding had been controlled.

I give God the glory for helping me conquer that valley of the shadow of death.. My baby is 2 weeks old now by his grace.

    5. Its actually not a ballon when its inserted, it swells and assumes the shape of a ballon and then falls out on its own..if that happens it means you are making progress with dilating..

  16. Stella it's urinary catheter, when it's inflated the inner part becomes a balloon.

    1. I had a balloon catheter inserted as well. It is placed in the cervix and a sterile liquid is injected into it so as to ripen and open the cervix so that labour progresses naturally.

    1. Every little thing the team feminist comes out, so because she said she took it like a man you see fault abi, meanwhile all this feminist will expect you to stand up for them in BRT buses and even seat in the front of maruwa so they can sit at the back. Dont miss quote me im a respecter of women myself but its not everytime the feminist card plays up
