  18. She could hv avoided this severe beating and public exposure by not cheating. If she is no longer in love with her hubby, she should hv return to her father + ask that her bride price be returned. She will then be free to do whatever she likes.First thing first

How are they sure this man won't flee after they grant him bail? He's not fit to live among humans.
Lawyers in the house,do they grant psychopaths bail?

I think before they grant people bail, they should look at the crime committed, the intention behind it and what the criminal is capable of doing again.

This man held his wife hostage for days torturing her, what is the difference between him and his colleagues that have been featured on Crime Investigation?

    1. @Iphie D, unfortunately, my buttercup, the offences for which he is charged with are bailable offences. The court must grant him bail. To do otherwise will amount to infringement of his fundamental human rights. Honey, our Nigerian criminal jurisprudence is adversarial and an accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Even if a person is caught in the act and there are overwhelming evidence against him/her, the court must still presume the accused innocent until the prosecution proves the case against the accused, beyond reasonable doubt.

That's how the legal system works according to the criminal procedure law/Act. To a layman it can be very frustrating, but the courts are bound by procedural laws, whether they like it or not. There are more severe charges that fit the narrative better and would have landed the husband in prison custody because the magistrates' court lacks jurisdiction and therefore cannot grant him bail. The court would then have to remand him to prison custody and forward the duplicate case file to the director of public prosecution, for legal advice. I wonder why the police didn't charge him with a more grievous offence.

What most magistrates would do is, grant him bail but the bail terms will be so stringent that  the accused will be unable to perfect, at least not immediately. That way, the accused will be remanded to prison custody until the bail terms are perfected.

Where the court of public opinion says "crucify him!", the court of law says "not so fast! First, grant him a fair trial". Courts can't afford to be emotional or sentimental. I know, my darling, it feels unfair and oppressive but that's the legal procedure.

    2. Thank you Ronalda, but when I watch csi and criminal intent, bail is always on the millions. Because of the severely of the cases. Why was his own only 250, 000 are they not supposed to know his financial standing before setting bail? Should the bail not be at least 1m for this guy as it seems he is not so rich.

    3. Peacemaker. If she has been doing it for some time he will be used to it already the anger can never be this fierce. It is the other way around. He must have been beating her since for the beating to get this bad. Domestic violence starts with one slap. Also victims of very bad domestic violence are too scared to cheat haha so I don't believe this story

  27. Sometimes I dont understand why women enjoys abusive relationship. A man that slapped you during the courtship will hit hammer on your head tomorrow. Stop telling yourself"he will change" I made him angry, he is hot temper, I insulted him, it was my choice. Women stop depending on men for everything, I dont have money cannot leave him, who will take of my children and I. Leave abusive marriage, find your own happiness, may God help us ooo cos I don tire for all this story everyday.

I am trying not to use abusive words on you and sin unnecessarily. Just came back from church.
When it is issues on sex u can continue with ur long something epistle, but pls this is a real serious delicate issue.

That man is going to kill his wife one day, what if she got blind in the process. See her eyes.
I can bet that this man's family will come and beg her to drop the case and reconcile and she may agree.
Parents please train your kids yourself, don't sell them off to men for marriage at a young age, expecting the man to send her to school and set her up. Education is a parents responsibility to a child. That is why some of these men behave like they own the woman.
You will hear them say " I trained her in school " as if that warrants you beating and locking her indoors as your property.
That you paid huge dowry doesn't make her your property.

  37. @Tayan Taylor, be like say you don drink your ogogoro this night again.
What are you saying exactly, is adultery an offence punishable by beating in a court of law. I do not even want to know whether she's an adulterous woman or not.
How will she not cheat when the man is a beast and can't show love.
Let him bring the evidence of her cheating and let's see if any court of law will release him on the grounds of adultery.
