President Trump Under Fire To Denounce White Supremacists After Charlottesville Death

Senators and other elected officials from both parties joined in denouncing the violence in Charlottesville, Va., Saturday after clashes between white supremacist marchers and counter protesters left at least one person dead and more than 30 injured.

A number of them implicitly, or even explicitly, said President Trump’s response to the incident did not go far enough in opposing white supremacists and right wing extremism.

A White House official later told to Yahoo News, “The president was condemning hatred, bigotry and violence from all sources and all sides,” adding that, “There was violence between protesters and counter protesters today.”

The president’s failure to specifically speak out against white supremacists and other far right extremists, who had descended on Charlottesville for a “Unite the Right” rally to protest the planned removal of a Confederate statue in this relatively moderate university town, drew criticism from within his own party.

Following a tweet in which Trump called for Americans to “condemn all that hate stands for” and “come together as one,” former KKK Grand Wizard and Trump supporter David Duke replied: “I would recommend you take a good look in the mirror & remember it was White Americans who put you in the presidency, not radical leftists.”

  1. Well Trump is being careful because as Duke, the supremacist leader stated, Trump got votes from groups like this. Even though I abhor everything the white supremacists stand for, a counter protest shouldn't have been started so close to them, after all they were protesting the decision made regarding General Lee's statue, which is within their rights.
Like Trump like Buhari, dividing their respective countries along racial and ethnic lines.

    1. Within their rights but the courts already ruled on that case. Plus the decision was reached due to the killings of 9 black people there several years ago.

  2. Trump has been known to be very specific and decisive while condemning people. He never lacks the right words to use. So Americans are shocked that he was neither here nor there with his choice of words.
This whole brouhaha is supposedly because of the huge Statue of Gen Robert Lee that is in the process of being removed but I tell you that from the time of KKK,Neo-Nazis, this whole thing has been a longtime coming. A ticking time bomb.
If care is not taking.. These white supremacists will take this beyond the streets. At the end of the day,a young woman lost her life.
Is it worth it sometimes? This is why I never pray for war. I hate war.

    1. You expected a better reply from trump?? I knew his reply wouldn't face the issue squarely. Seeing they are mostly the reason he is there like Duke said. I hope his tenure won't bring back all this issues that I felt had been kept under wraps for a while now

  3. Trump won't condemn it because he's a racist. He chose his words deliberately and nothing anybody says will move him
