Badass Minister Nabs Bribe Collecting Nursing Assistants During ‘Unannounced’ Visit To Hospital

State Minister for Health for General Duties, Hon. Sarah Opendi disguised herself as a patient and busted a couple of corrupt medical workers in Kampala.

The Minister dressed up in a burka (Muslim attire) in order to investigate reports of alleged corruption at China- Naguru Hospital, Kampala. Two health workers, according to a statement by the Health Ministry, were arrested when the attempted to solicit a bribe from the veiled “patient.”

The minister who rode on a boda boda bike was shocked when a laboratory technician and a nursing assistant attempted to solicit a bribe from her in exchange for treatment.

It was the lift that my family and everyone in the hospital needed,” narrated Ms. Masaba, who also shared the information that she had a patient at Naguru and they had been charged a lot of money yet services in Government Health Facilities are meant to be free of charge and no patient should be charged any shilling unless they are in the Private wing.
