Las Vegas Gunman's Girlfriend Said She Thought Money He Gifted Was His Way Of Breaking Up With Her.

The girlfriend of the Las Vegas gunman claims that she thought he sent her to the Philippines and sent her $100,000 as a way of breaking up with her.

Marilou Danley, 62, said in a statement through her lawyer Wednesday that then-boyfriend Stephen Paddock, 64, had bought her a 'cheap' ticket to the Philippines two weeks ago, out of the blue. He suggested she visit her family, something she was happy to do, she claimed.

But when he wired the massive sum to her during her stay there, she began to worry that he was breaking up with her, she said. She had no idea that Paddock was planning Sunday'srampage, which claimed 59 lives, including his own, and injured 527 people.

In a prepared statement read out by her lawyer, Matt Lombard, Danley said:

I knew Stephen Paddock as a kind, caring, quiet man. 'I loved him and hoped for a quiet future together with him. He never said anything to me, or took any action that I was aware of, that I understood in any way to be a warning that something horrible like this was going to happen.

A little more than two weeks ago, Stephen said he found a cheap ticket for me to the Philippines and that he wanted me to take a trip to see my family. Like all Filipinos abroad, I was excited to go home and see family and friends. While there, he wired me money which he said was for me to buy a house for me and my family. I was grateful, but honestly I was worried that first, the unexpected trip home and then the money, was a way of breaking up with me. It never occurred to me in any way whatsoever that he was planning violence against anyone.

'I have not made a statement until now because I am cooperating with the authorities. And I voluntarily flew back to America because I knew that the FBI and Las Vegas police department wanted to talk to me - and I wanted to talk to them. I will cooperate fully with their investigation, and anything I can do to help ease suffering or help in any way, I will do.

    2. I have read the story very very well. The man is a CEO of a small real estate/title company. Most naija yahoo boys now are into real estate wire and that shii can make any CEO go angry or crazy. They hack email and watch as title company and buyer communicate about buying houses. When it's about time for the buyer to pay, the email is filtered and yahoo boys will send account details to the buyer to wire funds there. The buyer is usually able to sue the title company and get his money back because its the title company's fault that they were hacked.

Now imagine you lose like 1-2m in this kind of thing, it's enough to make oyinbo man angry and start shooting at anyone. I have a strong feeling this is what happened but let me keep my mouth shut.

    3. How is that possible? In USA or where, buyer can't wire money to a tile company without doing closing, which will be done in a conference room, and title company are paid by the Bank, the buyer bring just about 10% of whatever they are buting in a certified check on the day of closong, which abt 3.5-5% will be with their sellers lawyer as down payment. So I don't know what you are saying.

    5. Of course in the USA. You know what you know until it hits you. It's not everyone who pays with certified check. Some payments are made with wire and I know some company owners have killed themselves in the face of debt.

This happens usually when you communicate with buyer over email. They see for closing yea but then it's the buyer's bank that sends money and the buyer will send money to wherever the title company ask them to send to only that title company's email has been hijacked and you are sending money to another account.

    1. Oh yes! Before nko?
How can she live in the same house, sleep in the same room, sit in the same car together with someone like that with guns, ammunitions & heavy weapons wey pass Dodan Baracks own & yet claim not to know or have seen anything suspicious like that? I know most Americans r mad & seriously mentally unhinged & callous towards human life, that they even use guns as living room decoration in their homes with little children there playing around, but this level of amount of guns in the man's possession is totally absurd!

  7. I think she looks hot for a 62 year old. Like real hot.....

$100k isn't an alarming sum of money, though. They should allow her keep it for all the ponyor servicing. It was probably his last money
