Denmark’s Royal Prince Henrik Dies At 83 After Refusal To Be Buried Next To His Queen-Wife

Denmark’s Prince Henrik, the husband of Queen Margrethe, died on Tuesday night at the age of 83 at Fredensborg Castle, the Royal House said in a statement.

“His Royal Highness Prince Henrik died peacefully in his sleep ...,” the statement said. “Her Majesty the Queen and the two sons were at his side.”

The 83-year-old French-born prince was diagnosed with a benign tumour two weeks ago. He had been hospitalised following an illness that began during a private trip to Egypt.

Shortly before his death, he was transferred from a Copenhagen hospital back to the castle, north of the city, where he had wanted to spend “his final time”.

In August 2017, Henrik said he refused to be buried next to his wife when his time comes, in a designed-just-for-them sarcophagus at Roskilde Cathedral in Denmark. “If she wants to bury me with her, she must make me a king consort,” he told Se og Hør. “Finished. I do not care.”

Henrik, who retired from royal duties in January 2016, said that his lack of a king title has made him feel unequal in his marriage, and that he feels disrespected by his wife because of it.

na wah oh!!!

  1. He don die go, bye, bye, adios. ..if he likes let him be king x10 in the land of the dead.

  2. Hian ooooo wat nonsense, didn't he knw abt the status before marrying the queen?he should have married another who would have made him feel superior....#yeyedeysmell

  3. Rest in sir. Your journey has ended. Sleep on.

  4. If it was a woman that her husband refused to make queen n she finally died,we wont hear word on sdkb today.but its a man so everything is fine.

  5. He was in the same position as the Duke of Edinburgh (Queen Elizabeth II's husband). I wonder why they'll not be referred to as King but their kings'wives are referred to as Queen e.g Queen Mary (Queen Elizabeth II's late mother) who was married to her father King George. I learnt a lot about the British royal family from the TV show 'Crown'. But nnaa na who ask me all these things wey I type? Make I sleep jare. Good night Stella
