Former President Ellen Sirleaf Johnson's Signpost Brought Down In Owerri..

in a bid to show their displeasure Imo state residents have destroyed the Ellen Sirleaf Johnson road sign which was built by governor Rochas Okorocha in Owerri, the state capital.....

The Liberian president, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, was honored last year November with a statue and a signpost by Imo state governor; Rochas Okorocha. Just like Jacob Zuma of South Africa and Nana Ado Akufo of Ghana, the Liberian leader was inducted in the Imo Hall of Fame, received Imo Merit Award and her statue also unveiled in her honour.

This did not go down well with many Nigerians especially imolites who heavily criticized and condemned the governor for honoring foreign leaders and “doing less” for his people in Imo state.

Now it appears some citizens have made their threats real by destroying the signpost. The other statues are located at the Ikemba Ojukwu Square which is heavily guarded.

    1. Thats the point, they dont ever believe they will leave that seat one day and would be judged by their achievement. Look at former governor mbadinuju, i heard his massive hotel is now 3k per night still people hardly lodge there. Look at akl the money he misused still he's in a sorry state. And to rochas, if you like, install your son in law when you are gone, you will pay dearly for all your atrocities directly/indirectly

  8. Jacob Zuma is despised by south Africans. He illegally used millions in state funds for his personal house while many south Africans are homeless, he has many corruption charges hanging on his neck and is a disgrace to the legacy of the hreay Nelson Mandela. Now he has been given 48 hours to step down or face impeachment. This is the man Rochas deemed fit to honour with a statute at the expense of Imo people. He did not see great Imo scientists, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, humanitarians and other great Imo achievers within and outside Nigeria that he can honour and encourage ad role models.
