Iya Ibeji Series -Almost Doesnt Count Oh..

Hmmmmm OK now!!!!

One peaceful evening I was relaxing at home when I heard my neighbor call out my name. I quickly rushed out to meet him and asked him what the matter was, he asked me to bring out chairs and sit outside with him, then we had the following conversation.

NEIGHBOR: Iya beji, the people wey dey do me don finally get me.

IYA BEJI: What happpened?

NEIGHBOR: You know I'm into sport betting. A friend gave me numbers the other day and asked me to play that he was very sure. I took it as one of those numbers and I didn't play. Iya beji he called me this evening and was very excited, he said we don hammer. He was even asking for his cut, but guess what I didn't play.

IYA BEJI: (gently) Why didn't you play na. Anyway how much was the winning?

NEIGHBOR: (Paused for a while then said) 3 million.

IYA BEJI ( My hair plait dada, I stood up and screamed) Neighbor why now? Why didn't you play? Since the beginning of this year you have been carrying betting paper up and down no show. This one that was given to you on a platter of gold you didn't play.

I wanted to go on scolding him, but I looked at him sitting so calmly and I told myself this man came to be comforted. So I put down my sword and started comforting him.

NEIGHBOR: Iya beji don't be nice continue thrashing me I deserve it. You see I can't even enter the house, I have taken my BP drug but my body is still hot.

IYA BEJI: Where is your wife?

NEIGHBOR: She traveled.

My husband joined us and when he heard was happened he also teased the man a bit. But we did our best to cheer him up, we discussed all the things that he would have bought if had won the money. After a while my husband left us and then I told him I had to leave too.

NEIGHBOR: Iya beji you dey leave me?
IYA BEJI: I want to go and cook.

NEIGHBOR: I can't sleep alone in that house make person no pass there go. Let me call one of my girlfriends to come over.

So he made the call and truly a girl came and spent the night with him.
While I was in the kitchen I couldn't stop thinking about his loss.
I'm not into betting, severally he had asked me to play but I declined. I thought of how the money would have helped them financially, I also thought of my share. No do no do he would have declared for me.

While it took me days to get over the money we never won, it took my neighbor weeks. He even lost weight sef on top the matter.

*Did i read well?He invited his girlfriend to his Matrimonial home to sleep and you didnt talk about that?nah money own dey do you?Na wah

  1. Naija girls (like Iya ibeji) sees nothing wrong with adultery. They are a lot of money minded bunch of ndi oshi amu. 🐀🐀🐀🐀
There are very few married women in Naija that will not open legs at the right (or sometimes no) pay.
All they know is money and abroad, that is their puppet cord.
My auntie taught me that a person is known by her spontaneous action or inaction and that has shaped my life.
That informs Iya ibeji's silence on her fellow woman, married woman traveling and the husband is inviting his girl friend. She won't speak because the traveled wife isn't guiltless and the one who did not speak...😯😯😯😯😯😯
That money would not have amounted to anything to this family and indeed all of you.
The girlfriend would have pocketed it and given him pocket money.
Heb. 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

    1. God bless you for your take on this. If I were in Iya Ibeji's shoes, I would completely avoid that neighbour based on the grounds of gambling and adultery.

  7. The impetus people have as far as cheating is concerned really needs to be curbed.
You have a relationship with this man and you couldn’t even express ordinary displeasure at his proposal to call a girlfriend; especially as he was so open and disrespectful about it?
We have a long way to go in order to achieve accountability from the male folks in marriage.
On the betting, ntorr for the man.

  12. She couldn’t even advise the man about bringing one of his girlfriends to his matrimonial home. Too bad!

Maybe one day ur darling husband will do same and he will be applauded. Na so world take spoil o

If that man was my neighbor, nothing will make me sit close to him ever again to discuss rubbish. He should know ur stand on such issues and not say it to ur hearing. But maybe una be the same for that ministry sha. Kos u can’t tell me u were minding ur business because u didn’t mind it totally.

    1. I shock too... Assuming she wrote that she confronted the man, Stella would have been the first to say Drink Water and Mind Your Business.
