President Buhari Tells Fulani Herdsmen To Ignore Directive Asking Them To Leave Southern Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a message to Fulani herdsmen urging them to ignore the recent call by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) asking them to leave the Southern part of Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday by Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

Buhari questioned the intentions of the NEF and the other so-called leaders in delving into issues with unsolicited, ill-intentioned advice.

The statement added, “All citizens of Nigeria are free to move and live within any part of the country they please, whether or not they are originally from there.

“In line with our country’s constitution, the government of Nigeria and the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will protect citizens of Nigeria wherever they find themselves.

“No one has the right to ask anyone or group to depart from any part of the country, whether north, south, east or west,” the President said.

“They have no one’s authority to make such pronouncements.

“The polarising role of the Northern Elders Forum and all those other groups dabbling into issues of security to score cheap political points has for long been a sore point in Nigeria’s body polity.

They should not be allowed to mislead anyone, least of all the Fulani herders.
“The Buhari administration is fully devoted to finding a lasting solution to the herder-farmer clashes in different parts of Nigeria- one that would be acceptable to all the parties involved.”

The President, therefore, called on all Nigerians to help keep the peace in the country.

    1. So if they are on people's farms, who have worked so hard to make their crops grow, they shouldn't be sent out? They should be allowed to destroy other people's hard work? I can't wait for a new president. Nigeria should really just divide so we can rest, this is pure wickedness.

      Delete
    2. Push up did you just said Nigeria should just divide? But those calling for secession are being hated. Why??? Until Nigerians start telling themselves the truth, we won't get away with our problems.

Yes under the constitution they are free to move around but not to encroach on people's land or space.

Buhari, don't let me start using you to do midnight prayers, it is no longer funny.

  2. In as much as I would love peaceful coexistence between host communities and strangers, it doesn't mean when host communities are endangered by the actions of these fulanis, they should keep quiet. No one will chase the Fulanis away if they are reasonable enough or comport themselves very well as civilized people as against this rubbish lifestyle they are known for.

If they chose the violent approach, then their presence is no longer needed and the call for them to return home by the northern elders forum is highly welcome.

    5. Anon 08:04, the old man often react quickly when it has to do with the Fulanis. When the northern youth gave the Igbos quit notice about two years ago in the northern part of the country, we didn't see this hasty reaction from the president. Last month the RUGA nonsense was suspended, they gave another ultimatum of 30days to the country. The old man of a president didn't react condemning the ultimatum but will be quick to speak when it affect his people. Isn't this a clear pointer that he is a sectional president? How many Fulani herdsmen have been arrested and prosecuted with all the killings they have carried out in this country? Both Mr President and the blood thirsty herdsmen are all insane. Tell them I said they are mad.

      Delete
    6. So insane.....he is so sectional with nothing in his head except tribalism. Three years and left...can't wait, seriously.

    7. Eesah, are you aware that you are deluded and living in denial? If you like, be the imam of your Yoruba mosque, be more fluent in Arabic than the Saudi princes, it still doesn't change the fact that you are not one of them!
Dress like them all you want, use charcoal to be rubbing your forehead to show that you are a praying Muslim, you are still not different from me in their sight because you are not Hausa/Fulani!
Eesah, when the time comes, you will be slaughtered in a heartbeat!
So, if you still go about thinking that Yoruba Muslims are insiders, wake up and smell the coffee Bro...

    8. Mama Mia, have you seen a Yoruba Muslim lead in prayers in any of the mosque? I feel so pity for the igbos converting into Muslim because of politics. The Fulani's who are the descendants of Othman Dan Fodio knows and see those who aren't Hausa/Fulani as infidel, and will never trust them. Do you now understand why Femi Fani Kayode(FFK) often called the southerners aligning with the feudal lords from the north and the caliphate 'useful idiot'?

Oh Our PMB, it is so clear where his heart is right now. When the Northern whatever gave the southerners an ultimatum if the Ruga stuff was jot done in the next 30 days. He didn't come out to denounce it.

I don't know how he wants his brothers to live by force in the south/south when they do not have enough land mass like the North. Some of these things are so clear. But he is so blinded by his agenda and is not thinking clearly.
God is greater than him and his agenda. I wish people will see through him.

    1. Na religious and ethnic bias go be una bane for this country and it's yeye clerics and bias southern opinion leaders like FFK that are planting it in your hearts. Do you know how many millions of sane Christians voted for Buhari? That's cause they are not religion fanatics and brainwashed like you guys. Cause they know what Buhari stands for and not all these Islamization agenda you are talking about.

But know this today, if Buhari stops TSA, BVN, IPPIS, anti corruption fight today, herdsmen, fulanization and islamization agenda chants will die naturally. This is Nigeria and they are people behind these things, fanning these things and making you believe and dancing to their music. Until y'all start seeing Nigeria nationalistically, sanely and without ethnic and religious bias, then we have a long way to go.

    2. O boy go and sit down @Eesah and stop disgracing yourself and the innocent people who may know you in real life. What do you know about governance or politics? Tell me one global index that have rated Nigeria or score them high in any thing positive? At least we know for Jonathan's administration, Nigeria became one of the fastest growing economy in the world and first in Africa. When your boko haram President came into power, didn't the country nosedived and went into recession? Did he assemble competent hands or criminals like him? What can you lay hold on as an achievement in this administration. Is it the over 73persons killed and buried in Benue state in less than three days? Is it the reinstatement of Maina who was indicted for pension fraud? Or is it the canonization of Orji Uzor Kalu, Godswill Akpabio and Obanikoro as saints as testified by Oshiomhole?

What about the massive retrenchment and unemployment? Do you think Nigerians are happy? What about the numerous death of our gallant solders in the battle field? Do you know Boko haram still control some part of northern Nigeria and villages in Borno? Do you know Ghana have left Nigeria behind globally? The only advantage we have over Ghana now is population wise. They are better of in management than Nigeria. I can go on and on but you don't deserve to be told about the level of your stupidity and ignorance. I weep for you and all you represent.

    1. Please be out. You are insensitive to the fact that people are being murdered by these herdsmen and their crime is that they don’t want their crops(their source of livelihood) to be eaten by cows. How many times have you heard that Fulani settlement was ambushed and set ablaze? We have seen countless villages destroyed and people butchered like animals. The people have the right to be angry.
