  9. I watched Tyler Perry's The Oval and it gave me insights on how things work in The White House, and honestly I don't envy them; the strict protocols that must be adhered to, always keeping a comported facàde irregardless of how you feel. It must be so difficult to live without any form of privacy.

    3. I watch US political movies a lot so I understand. However, I think that those who aspire to be President are usually people with very big dreams and are mostly big achievers, either intellectually, politically or financially. Somehow you gotta stand out from the average person, or have a blend of leadership and charisma. But also Americans have a high work ethic, they set that standards years ago that made them a world power. So that amount of work does not deter those who aspire to it. The US itself is a very protocolled society, you really can't do what you want the way we do in Nig. Goodluck to the new government.

  13. My girl Michelle slayed with her maroon outfit and bouncy hair. I literally caught my breath when I set eyes on that goddess. Kamala also looked amazing. Dr Jill Biden looked so pretty. I’m so emotional, this inauguration.

  18. Not watching, don't care. I am sure they don't care about me too. Lost faith in Politicians. I will only applaud when they perform in line with the expectations of the governed.

  19. It’s good to know many were watching. I hope we noticed the 22 year old Amanda Gorman who is the youngest inaugural poet and whose poem books have moved to no1 & 2 on Amazon Bestseller list in 24 hours. Preordered, books that will come out in Sept 2021 being paid for now. Amanda is now an overnight millionaire at 22, is a College final year student, she will contest for president in 2036, her words. Oprah offered to buy her the coat to wear like she did for Late Maya Angelou during Obama inauguration, Amanda politely said she had picked the coat she would wear in her favorite color, most likely cheaper than Oprah would have bought her. Healthy self esteem and absolute simplicity and humility with contentment.
Ever generous Oprah then gave her “bird in a cage” gold hoop earrings and a bracelet to wear to continue an inaugural tradition of giving to inaugural poets. The earring is a tribute to Maya Angelou who wrote “ I know why the caged bird sings” among many of her works.

Why did I write about this, a lot of Nigerian youths aren’t given any opportunities to showcase what they can do. Amanda couldn’t pronounce “R” and overcame the speech defect. President Biden overcame stuttering.
In Nigeria some people never pronounce “r” and we don’t think we need speech therapists. Back to Amanda, she gives me hope that our younger generation (I’m in my 50s) are not going to be “influenced” mostly by Kardashian “be naked” to get rich behaviors that have been copied globally.
Hope that Millennials and Generation Zs will make the world better with deep thinkers and focused youth given the right opportunity. Like Amanda who was spotted reading a poem at the library by Jill Biden in 2017.

I wrote about not seeing Biden/Kamala Asoebi and someone called me bitter.
I’m as joyful as can be because January 6th insurrection and the online chats of the Trump cult made many serious minded folks careful. Trump was a “Dictator wannabe” with his incitement to violence and dog whistles to white supremacists. I live in a predominantly white suburb because the schools are frankly better and I’m a career woman/wife/Mom who moved here decades ago and went back to studying to get a solid footing in a different society. The Trump cult Qanon etc had nothing to lose but most of us blacks and white and Jews plus every group will lose in a civil war. January 6th shook many Americans to the core after the trauma of 400,000 COVID19 deaths and 20m on unemployment benefits. The sight of 25000 armed troops in DC was not normal for inauguration hence my seriousness.
Many Naijas live in big city clusters that are insulated from serious intellectual or political discourse and live like they are still in Lagos or wherever they moved from, only assimilating via the schooling of their kids.

Btw I was told it was on sale in African stores in some clusters of big cities neighborhoods with lots of Nigerians, mainly bought by undocumented Nigerians and blue collar Nigerian workers who hope Biden will grant amnesty to over 11m people but probably never joined any immigration grassroots efforts. Grassroots activism on climate, immigration, African policy etc and donating your little amount is how you gain influence and move up politically in this country. The entire donor base of the Democratic Party is less than 350,000 people and $$ are needed to campaign, pay volunteers who make calls, pay poll watchers. 2022 is around the corner, get involved to maintain and expand our lead in the senate and House to carry out any major agenda like the immigration change you desire, climate change, helping developing nations etcI
The Aso ebi was not like the lapel pin and other souvenirs sold by the party to members but by a segment of Naija here buying it from Naija stores.

I pray God answers their prayers pertaining to life and godliness in Jesus Name.
The atmosphere is refreshing as we now have a normal human being as president. Even Pence broke with Trump and attended. Thank God.
