Senate President Akpabio Says He Will Not Step Down Over Senator Natasha Akpoti's Allegations

Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Thursday gave reasons why he will not step down over allegations of s#xual harassment.

Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, in March accused Akpabio of having allegedly sexually harassed her in 2023 and demanded the Senate President should step aside to allow for unbiased probe of the allegation by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions.

‎Responding to comments by the Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele that some people had called on him to step aside notwithstanding the work the 10th Senate is doing.
‎Akpabio said stepping down would predispose him to suffer irreversible injury or make him a bad example or injustice should he be found to be innocent of the allegation at the end of the day.

‎Responding to Bamidele, Akpabio said

‎ “I would not have answered you, but for the fact that you said those who would have asked you to step down. Who told you I was going to step down?
‎You know, if you watch the colour of America, there are black people because of their skins who went to prison, some for 25 years for false allegations.

‎So, I’m not one of those people who will step down over false allegation then when eventually it is proven that the allegation is false, they will say, oh, well…

‎I’m not that bad. So, if you had that in mind, please cancel it. So, having said that, I must thank you for, for the words that you have spoken today.”

  1. I support Akpabio 💯%. He has not been indicted by any court of competent jurisdiction, senate panel or judicial body. Allegations not proven does not warrant stepping down at all.

    2. Dear ladies, if ever a man in authority over you makes any sexual moves on you or indicates sexual interest, please begin to document because you don't know how the issue will end. Some men go ahead to frustrate and even sabotage you if denied the pleasure of sleeping with you. I have been a victim several times myself, and it's Natasha's case that made me realize that I was making a huge mistake by not documenting. So next time your boss/lecturer/landlord, etc. begins to express sexual interest in you, at first be friendly and appear to be considering their request, record the conversation on phone or ensure he sends some very suggestive texts/chats, screenshot all these and save. Have a backup copy on OneDrive or Google drive, you might need it one day. A boss went as far as firing me, if I had brought a case against him, it would have been my word against his even though this man had gone as far as physically grabbing me one day.

    3. Assuming that she has the record of their conversation that's when she can take it to the court. How can she defend it when there is no evidence.

"... at first be friendly and appear to be considering their request, record the conversation on phone or ensure he sends some very suggestive texts/chats, screenshot all these and save."

      Good advice.
The real issue is when to release the evidence.
If you wait too long in the friendliness, the sting is lost
If you wait until the man stops a favour you were enjoying during the friendliness, most people will not believe you or will only just give the man a soft landing.
      If...
      Timing is the key
Then the matter of generated AI evidence tag needs to be considered.
That is why women co-opt upright men in their schemes to out a man from day one.
Only a man can really corroborate a woman's allegation.
The way a woman now corroborating a man's denial.

    1. Before you start calling God, first find out the truth. Karma doesn't punish the innocent.

  7. So when she gets to court, she will tell them that he was professing love to her. She never mentioned that she was molested.

  8. She never mentioned her immediate response or action to the alleged harassment.
Did she shout at him when he said the things she claimed he said or did she remove her hand from his or what exactly did she do at the point of harassment to send a clear warning to the man?
