Reacting to the news of the murder of 12 wedding guests, including the father and brother of the groom, the President described the heinous action as unacceptable and barbaric.
The victims, many of them injured, were travelling from Zaria, in Kaduna State, to Jos, in Plateau State.
President Tinubu directs the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) to work with other security and intelligence agencies to ensure those responsible for the attack are held accountable.
The President called for calm, promising not to allow the dastardly act to go unpunished.
"The Government of Plateau State must take decisive action in handling these vicious cycles of violence. The state government must work with security agents to get to the root of this recent incident and use it as a deterrent against future occurrences.
"Freedom of movement by all citizens is non-negotiable. We will not tolerate any attempt by anyone or group of people to curtail that fundamental freedom through acts of extreme violence and fear," he said.
The President commiserates with the victims' families and the people and government of Kaduna State.
Every day bloodshed/killing. May God have mercy!
ReplyDeleteWhat is actually happening in this country ðŸ˜.
ReplyDeleteOh my God
E reach to ask...this is three-much
DeleteSo ppl just capture ppl and lynch them? So ppl can’t travel again. What a tragedy.
ReplyDeleteHe's condemning the killing after how many days? Nigeria-best in having bad leaders
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad. Awesome LORD KEEP YOUR CHILDREN.
ReplyDeleteWe have delayed the conversation about the right to bear arms for far too long in this country. Criminals clearly don't need legal permission so why must law abiding citizens be sitting ducks? Is there any federal parliamentarian or governor who doesn't own a gun? How many of the bandits will keep their job if they could guarantee they won't make it back with their loot? Even Shekau is hiding from gunshots.
ReplyDeleteWe have an unfenced border all around. The Japanese emperor was not cowed by the he valiance of the American army but the guns behind every blade of grass held by civilians. Self defense is a divinely guaranteed right the laws in Nigeria should not impede.
E dey give directive whilst im hand dey inside bowl of amala and gbegiri. Thiefnubu no talk pim when bubu and im brothers dey kill us all becps e no wan offend fulani....now wen dem give am prez...e no care
ReplyDeleteIt is well. God save us
ReplyDeleteThe particular community this incident happened in has been bedeviled by constant Fulani attacks. The community had enough apparently. It is unfortunate that they choose to unleash their anger on innocent passengers.
ReplyDeleteBut the speed of intervention from the Nigerian army gives cause for concern. Considering that they hardly turned up when that community came under attack in several instances.
The incident in Yelwata Benue state, went on for over 4 hours with limited military response even though 3 soldiers lost their lives.
The Northern governors forum has condemned the attack on these passengers. Rather baffling, they've not found the voice to condemn the Yelwata killings over a week after.
