On Tuesday, while at the shop looking like lucozade, we saw these children (a boy and a girl). The boy should be around 5 while the girl is around 9yrs. The girl held the boy's hand when they were crossing the first lane and on getting to the second one, a car ran over them. The girl died instantly without any external injury but the boy was rushed to the nearest hospital with several injuries and was later referred to UCH. The boy is presently in coma and we don't even know the chances of his survival.
The girl is a cousin to the boy. She actually came for holidays at their place. So, the boy's mother sent both of them across the road to buy BISCUITS . You sent kids across the road and for an hour, she didn't see them and she didn't bother looking for them until someone went to her house to give her the sad news after which the boy has been transferred to general hospital.

What a pity.
The guy who drove the car tried his best and he didn't even try to run away. He was the one who took them to the hospital and also went to police station to report himself. And truly, the guy wasn't at fault because everyone occupying that complex saw how it happened.

It was the children who ran into him. They crossed the road while the guy was closer to them thinking they will escape but it was too late. Everyone shouted when we saw them crossing but no one knew it was the end.
No one is saying you shouldn't send your wards an errand but it shouldn't be across the road. Leaving two to three streets because of cheap things. Bitter truth is, some adult can't even withstand crossing a busy road let alone leaving children all alone. It's a pity that, the little girl lost her life and till this present moment I'm putting up this, the boy is still in coma...
Please, I beg all parents in here and those about to be parents, do not be careless when it comes to your children.
I pray we won't have any reason to bury our own children in Jesus name.

Na wa for some parents, even 10yr olds have to go with an adult, this is an avoidable death,so sad
ReplyDeleteThat woman needs to be charged with parental neglect. Wtf?
ReplyDeleteI ordered my wife to close down her business place because of how she gets engrossed with work and doesn't pay attention to the kids as they play outside her office. It got to a head when one of the kids opened the mini gate and stepped into the street to play. Thankfully, I was just returning and saw it. I simply carried the child home, made her noodles, put on the telly to keep her engaged and went to my wife's business place. I sat down with the Mrs and we were gisting. 15 minutes later or so, I casually asked her where our daughter is. Come and see panic. I sat back watching as she was going helter skelter ( I'm wicked like that).
My calmness was what set her off that I was pulling her legs. I then told her our daughter was home with the boys. But she will not renew the rent of the office again. She's home now and works from there. With the rampant cases of child theft and all, I keep my tots as secluded as possible.
It is madness to send young kids on errands unsupervised. Anyone who does so is unfit to be a parent.
Oh my goodness ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜, May God heal the little boy and May the little girl RIP, This is just too sad 😔
ReplyDeleteThis is very sad to hear, may the girl soul rest in peace, may healing fall upon the boy.
ReplyDeleteCareless parenting and supervision. Three households in mourning because the driver too will be traumatized.
ReplyDeleteWhen my sister used to ask me to watch my nieces as babies even when they were sleeping I always checked that they were breathing. I checked every 20 minutes. I remember me and them were in a movie theatre together and one wanted to pee I packed up everyone and we all went to the bathroom together. I always told them we all move as one unit. They probably thought my azz was overzealous and annoying but they are alive and hearty. I prefer helicopter than leave things to chance.
No amount of apology can quell a parent’s broken heart because of carelessness. Being a lazy parent or guardian is not worth it. May God give peace to all in this situation. We should also step in when we see children in dangerous situations. Sometimes not minding your business is the right move.
I told my husband my worry with travelling with my kids ( a 5 &1) is how to use the bathroom with both because even in an airplane I’ll have to go with both
DeleteInnalilahi 🙆
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad ðŸ˜
This unfortunate incident would have be avoided if the kids were guided by an adult.... very sad
ReplyDeleteI wanted to confirm that it is bad news, and it is truly. You have started 🙄
ReplyDeleteAs adults, we should help when necessary.
ReplyDeleteHave helped lots of children cross the road several times.
Their parents might be careless but that shouldn't make us insensitive
