 MADAM AMEBO CORNER

Good day Stella, as e de hot...
E get one barber wey dey my former area,  most parents likes patronizing him, he's very friendly with kids and he barbs cheap, so anytime you bring kids there, they must wait cos the waitis always long...

One time my neighbor's daughter told her mom that she doesn't like barbing her hair in that man's shop, the mother shunned her and told her it's because she hates to barb her hair,  I told her to stop shunning her and gently ask her why..

She asked her why, she said it's because the man would act like he's barbing and would mistakenly touch her breast, that he did it twice, the Mom got angry and went there to confront the man, on getting there, the man denied and even his neighbors supported him and said he is an elderly man and is not that kind of a person, that he's God fearing and can never harm any child or molest them...

I told her that for some reasons, I believe the child, I asked if the child has ever reported such to her before, she said no that it was her first time, I told her to believe the girl and stand by her cos that will bring her closer to her and she will always open up things to her.

It's been over 3yrs and another 11yr old child has confessed to her Mom that she was impregnated by the same man,  it started with the same pattern he used on my friend's daughter,  it graduated to him dashing her the money she came to barb with, then to fingering, to deflowering and then pregnancy, a helpless child, I trust the estate people, they beat him beyond repair before taking him to the police....

At the police station he confessed that even boys in the estate were not spared, he named a lot of children's names, he said he would bring out his juju and make them swear on it that they will not tell anyone, a 68yr old man oo, not married, doesn't have a child...

The police took him to his shop and found different kinds of juju, he even showed them the one he laid in front of his shop, they dug it up and it was scary...

Schools have resumed, this is a time to monitor your kids, watch the kind of friends they keep, watch where they go, who they're comfortable with, I de come no be address, try and be that parent your child can talk to about everything, so much is going on in our society today, even a male child can be molested,
May God keep our kids safe and may we not cry over them...Amen

God save your people...what is all this!!!

COMMENT SECTION -   FASTEST ADVICE NEEDED

''What is a good amount I can give to a family to thank them for housing me for 2months.
So for context a good amount of the things we used in the household for the duration of my stay was bought by me food, water, gas , soap ,toothpaste etc
It’s a house hold of about 6 so you can Imagine it’s not easy. Sometimes they chip in to buy a few things but a bulk of the buying has been on my end.

I planned to give the couple money every month as a payment for housing but by the time I buy all these things I don’t have have enough for that. if I was buying for just me the things would last a month but sometimes I have to buy somethings weekly.

I started buying for the household because I came with all my own stuff soap toothpaste food; gas etc and when their things finished they started using mine and when mine finished I just replaced and they continued using and it’s just how it was for the duration of my stay.

I’m not complaining but they jokingly asked I need to give them some money for my stay which I agreed so wondering How much is a fair amount given the circumstances.

Greedy couple.. After using all your stuff, they had the audacity to ask you for money for the period of stay? two months Not so? Give them 20k if you can afford it and don't go there next time.

NOTORIOUS FOR JESUS

Wale and Tunde; these two Yoruba boys thought they were kings of our compound. Always playing loud music, rude jokes, bringing girls, smoking marijuana and zero respect.
One morning, they crossed the wrong line, insulted Mama Falade, our landlady. They threw stones on Mama's roof because she cautioned them about bringing strangers into the compound, She also claimed they hung charms by her doorstep. I stood by the window and watched them engage her in war of words.

“You’re too old to be disturbing young men,” they laughed.
She smiled… but her silence was dangerous.
"If only her only son was based here, y'all won't have this nerve", I told them from the window. Mama's only son stays in Lagos.

Two days later, we woke up to drama. Mama forced her way into their apartment in their absence.
She chained their door, their mattress, bags, and clothes were dumped outside. Mama stood there with an eviction notice.

“You don’t spit on the hand that shelters you,”
When they arrived, they started pleading but she didn’t blink.
By afternoon, they were gone. She made sure to invite the police. The compound felt lighter and peaceful.

Money pays rent but respect lets you keep the keys.

let me add that Landlord/Landlady is King and if you wanna live in peace, briddle your tongue near them...they are always right!

REFLECT ON THIS

One of the hardest wounds to carry is the wound of broken love.
When someone you trusted walks away, when promises are shattered, or when love is withdrawn without warning, it can make you question if true, lasting love even exists.

But here’s the truth: God’s love is not fragile like human love. It is not swayed by mood, performance, or circumstance. His love is steady, unwavering, and deeply personal. Every morning, without fail, He shows up with new mercies, fresh strength for today, even if yesterday was marked by anger, weakness, or doubt.

God’s love is not earned; it is anchored in who He is.
Faithful. Unchanging. Present.

Even when you feel unlovable, He loves you.
Even when others leave, He stays.
Even when you feel broken, His love holds the pieces together.

This is the kind of love that doesn’t rush your healing but patiently reminds you, again and again:
“You are Mine. I will not let you go.”

############

HEALING RESET SLAP

Today, pause for a moment in front of a mirror.
Look into your own eyes, the ones that have seen pain, tears, and resilience.
Whisper these words three times:
“God’s love for me is steadfast. It does not change.”
Even if it feels hard to believe, speak it. Let it gently seep into the parts of you that still doubt.

TO EVERYONE PARENT OUT THERE

Schools are resuming, and everywhere I look, parents are in a rush. Buying uniforms, new shoes, water bottles, lunch boxes, and ticking off supply lists.
And while all of that is important, many of us are not considering other important factors that affect how our children settle into the new term.

We are busy:

Focusing only on academics......
We say to them “You must read harder this term” or “No more playing, you’re in Primary 5 now o!” and forget to prepare their hearts for the transition. A child who feels anxious or unloved will struggle to learn, no matter how many textbooks you buy.

Over-scheduling....
We pack their after-school hours with lesson teachers, extra classes, and activities, leaving no breathing room. Children need downtime to process, play, and recharge.

Projecting our fears
Sometimes we say things like, “This teacher is very tough; better be careful,” or “If you don’t do well this term, you’re in trouble.” Without knowing it, we pass down our anxieties, making resumption feel like punishment.

Skipping healthy routines
Late-night TV, irregular sleep, no breakfast. Then we wonder why they can’t concentrate in class. A well-rested, well-fed child learns better than a tired, cranky one.

Forgetting emotional status
We ask, “Do you have your socks? Did you pack your bag?” but we rarely ask, “How are you feeling about resumption?” That simple question could open a window into your child’s heart.

Forgetting to pray for them.
Beyond homework and packed lunches, our children need to be covered. A quick, heartfelt prayer for wisdom, courage, protection, and favor can do what no amount of nagging or snacks can achieve.
Back-to-school season is more than logistics; it is about transition. And transitions are easier when children feel seen, supported, and steady inside. This term, let us not just send our kids back to school prepared on the outside but also empowered on the inside.

  10. I feel it's disrespectful for a boy or girl still living in a family compound and comfortably bring in girls or boys.
Maybe I'm traditional but if you have a girlfriend or boyfriend, introduce them to the house and let them visit. Not changing girls anyhow. Today it's A, tomorrow it's B..

My cousin has been bringing in different girls to visit in their family house. Some just friends, and others they do the do. Where your parents are living
    I feel it's disrespectful.

    3. The parents enable him. Very poor upbringing. They can't caution him. That is how they start. When they get married, they cheat recklessly and may even bring some of their side pieces to their matrimonial homes when their wives are not around.
I trust myself, no child of mine will ever try that in a house where we both live in, even if he built it.
      Nothing beats good upbringing.

  24. Achieving your dreams begins with self-belief. When you truly believe in yourself, you cultivate the confidence needed to pursue your goals. Start by clearly defining your dream, write down your vision and draft a cost estimate to understand the financial requirements.

Next, seek out the necessary training. That's related to what you intend to venture into or mentorship from experienced individual. Knowledge and skills are powerful tools that will aid you in navigating your journey.

Once equipped, it’s time to take action. Don’t underestimate the power of starting small; every successful venture begins with a single step. Even if your initial offerings are modest, they lay the foundation for growth and innovation.

As you embark on this journey, remember to keep faith at the center of your efforts.
The opening of our restaurant yesterday here in Ota is not just a personal achievement; it’s a testament to believing in yourself and following through. I celebrate this milestone as all glory to God.

  26. Stella, I was in your country over the weekend. We came to see my husband’s longtime friend that had just recently given birth. I check ur area on google maps but it was over 3 hours drive away 😭😭😭.

Anyways, I’m currently watching ‘The Waiter’ and I’m convinced the bad reviews it got is just cos people don’t like Ay or what? The action is pretty good for nollywood and acting is good. Storyline so far is also pretty good. I’m genuinely wondering why people complain about the movie.

The same thing they did with Merrymen.

The only problem I have with the movie is actually Ay and his dry jokes!

Let them go, every school administrator is supposed to pay a teacher at least half of a child's school fees as salary that is what many countries do but NO. They'll rather pay N60k and expect them to strive through the peanuts.
What is stopping them when one kid pays N385,000, is N162k abominable a wage?
