Police Arrest 12 Over The Death Of Arise TV Anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu

This caught my attention....

''During interrogation, Hassan confessed to shooting the security guard, Danlami, when he resisted the gang’s entry into the building.
Sirajo also admitted to struggling with Ms Maduagwu during the chaos, saying he attempted to stop her from falling off the three-storey building but claimed he was “overwhelmed by her weight.”

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has announced the arrest of 12 suspected armed robbers allegedly involved in the violent attack that claimed the lives of Arise News anchor Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, at Unique Apartments in Gishiri Village, Katampe District, Abuja.

The incident which occurred around 3:30 a.m. on September 29, 2025

In a statement on Wednesday, the command said the arrests followed a directive from the FCT Commissioner of Police to track and apprehend those responsible.

Operatives of the Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Godfrey, acting on what the police described as “actionable digital and reconstructive intelligence” swooped on the suspects across different hideouts in the FCT and neighbouring states.

The suspects were named as: Shamsudeen Hassan (Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State); Hassan Isah, 22 (Zaria, Kaduna State); Abubakar Alkamu a.k.a. Abba, 27 (Musawa LGA, Katsina State); Sani Sirajo a.k.a. Dan Borume, 20 (Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State); Mashkur Jamilu a.k.a. Abba, 28 (Igabi LGA, Kaduna State); Suleiman Badamasi a.k.a. Dan-Sule, 21 (Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State); Abdul Salam Saleh a.k.a. Na-Durudu (Katsina LGA, Katsina State); Zaharadeen Muhammad a.k.a. Gwaska, 23 (Chikun LGA, Kaduna State); Musa Adamu a.k.a. Musa Hassan, 30 (Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State); Sumayya Mohammed a.k.a. Baby, 27 (Sammaka LGA, Kaduna State); Isah Abdulrahman a.k.a. Abbati, 25 (Zaria LGA, Kaduna State); and Musa Umar a.k.a. Small, 31 (Maiduguri LGA, Borno State).

According to investigators, four suspects, including Hassan and Abubakar Alkamu, were first tracked after using the victims’ stolen phones.

During interrogation, Hassan confessed to shooting the security guard, Danlami, when he resisted the gang’s entry into the building.
Sirajo also admitted to struggling with Ms Maduagwu during the chaos, saying he attempted to stop her from falling off the three-storey building but claimed he was “overwhelmed by her weight.”

The police revealed that the gang sold some of the stolen items, with each member reportedly receiving ₦200,000 as their share.

Recovered from the suspects were: one fabricated AK-47 rifle, 36 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a locally made pistol, a pump-action gun, two live cartridges, four mobile phones belonging to the victims, two sharp knives, a cutlass, and nine torchlights used in the operation.

The command further disclosed that on October 8, operatives intercepted more gang members, including Musa Umar and Hassan Isah, while they were allegedly heading for another planned robbery in Maitama, Abuja.

“All suspects have confessed to the crimes. .

The command, however, noted that photographs of the arrested suspects were being withheld to avoid compromising efforts to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.

  3. Struggled to stop
    Or pushed her?

But the police were quick to say she jumped over. And conveniently all 12 are from the north.

Okay o. May she just rest well.
    No CTV footage?

  4. It looks like they framed or paid these people to confess. If the Nigerian police and investigation force is so efficient why overwhelming crimes, kidnappings and various dangerous insecurities are so rampant and most of the times with no apprehension of the perpetrators. Nonetheless if these guys are guilty then they should face the law. I think the lady was pushed.

    1. You are professionally pessimistic. The outline of investigations was laid out yet you transfer the faith needed for your breakthrough to conclude that because the investigation which is largely via ICT, was fast, it is untrue. Of course, evidence for your claim is absent.

This absence of logic means that the cold cases, shoddy prosecutions and overturned sentences in more advanced climes rule out any good thing from those law enforcement agencies there.

May Sommie get justice. The way to increase a good thing is to encourage it.

Thank you for responding to that person. Unfortunately, I doubt that the individual has the capacity to understand.

    1. The police never claimed to have been there when it happened so whatever they said initially weas based on what the residents told them.
They are the ones who have now told us the confessions of these mad criminals.
We can in the same vein use the same strength to attack Arise TV who told us the day it happened that she was rushed to the hospital with injuries, but the hospital refused to attend to her because there was no police report, at least i watched Ojy say that on live TV.
May Sommie's soul RIP, sad thing is that even killing these bas**ards can't bring her back

  6. I was wondering how one can panic so much to jump. I think she was killed, probably they wanted to have thier way with her and she struggled which led to a push over. I hate high rise bldgs, its just that how many bungalows are available for rent. May her soul comtinue rest in peace. Such a beautiful girl
