It’s outdated.
It’s inefficient.
And it has zero relevance to the modern world.
In serious countries, students receive:
• Digital notes
• Slides by email
• Recorded lectures
• Transcripts & summaries
Here, we still spend 2 hours copying what a teacher wrote instead of thinking, asking questions, or solving problems.
What exactly are we training?
• Handwriting speed?
• Obedience?
• Or learning?
Why can’t our classrooms be digital?
Why can’t notes be shared instantly?
Why are we afraid of modern teaching tools?
We complain our graduates are not globally competitive
yet we’re still running 19th-century classrooms in 2025.
This has nothing to do with intelligence.
It’s a system failure.

He is correct. All university professors in my country create PDFs of each lecture that you can access as many times as you want until the course ends. All courses for each student are loaded into Brightspace, the online platform that most higher learning institutions use. You simply log into your Brightspace account, it is also the platform used for submitting assignments, it even has a built in calendar to tell you what is due soon and send a notification if you missed a submission. Grades are in there as well. Students still take notes in class but only if something specific was mentioned, or they get a class review for an exam. I have experienced both systems and 100% prefer the digital way.
DeleteHowever, digitizing the library services is perhaps the most revolutionary thing that higher education has done. Not having to physically visit a library to find materials is the greatest convenience. And the free access to peer review materials at any time makes research so seamless. The days of lugging books all around for one essay are over. Plus students have access to librarians who can search materials for them on request. Library services today, even the public libraries are eons away from what they used to be in the past. These libraries all have 3-D printers, virtual reality labs, and very modern technologies, not all free but all are accessible to anyone.
