The donation is aimed at supporting the security outfit’s work across Yorubaland. Iru Ekun Security Network is a Yoruba community security initiative founded by Yoruba nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho. The group was set up to help fight kidnapping, terrorism and other crimes in the South-West.
According to Igboho, over 80,000 volunteers have already registered for the network. He said the group has recorded a reduction in kidnapping cases in areas that were previously under attack. The network has been officially launched in Oyo and Osun states.
The Ooni has consistently spoken about supporting security efforts. In the past, he pledged cooperation with security agencies and said the safety of the country is everybody’s business.
The donation of money and a Hilux vehicle is expected to help Iru Ekun with mobility, patrols and other operational needs as they work with police and other agencies to secure communities.
