The Nigeria Police Force says its operatives have killed a suspected gang leader allegedly connected to the murder of the traditional ruler of Ochia, Eze Paulinus Ekwueme, in Imo State.
The suspect, Ojiogu Elumah Martin, popularly known as Acid, was killed during a shootout with police operatives in Ohaji/Egbema on August 6, 2026.
Police said he was allegedly part of the criminal group behind the April 10 attack that killed the monarch and five others along the Asa/Awara Road.An AK-47 rifle, three magazines and 56 rounds of ammunition were reportedly recovered after the operation.
Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings, while two others were reportedly killed during earlier encounters with the police.
The Force said it is continuing its efforts to arrest other members of the group who are still at large.
