TikToker Undergoes Traditional Cleansing After Filming Sacred Oloolu Figure

Everything for content!!!...See what has happened to this one!!!

A female TikToker identified as Wasilat has undergone a traditional cleansing ceremony in Ibadan after secretly filming a figure linked to the sacred Oloolu Masquerade festival.

The incident happened during the Oloolu celebration held between July 27 and July 30 in Oyo State. According to reports, Wasilat recorded Alawo Oloolu, a figure associated with the Oloolu tradition, despite repeated warnings that women are forbidden from seeing or recording the masquerade.

The Olubadan of Ibadan palace confirmed that she did not film the main Oloolu masquerade itself but mistakenly captured Alawo Oloolu on the street.
After posting the video online, Wasilat reportedly experienced unexplained bleeding and emotional distress. Her family then reached out to the custodians of the Oloolu shrine, who performed a cleansing ritual in line with Yoruba tradition.

Videos from the ceremony shows her head being shaved by an older woman, with giant land snails worn around her neck as part of the ritual. Another part of the rite involved the sacrifice of a goat.

The Olubadan’s spokesperson said the family acted quickly to address the situation according to local custom. He added that women are strictly advised to avoid the Oloolu masquerade, describing it as a cultural taboo.

The Oloolu festival is an annual event in Ibadan meant to pray for peace and unity in the city. Authorities had earlier warned residents, especially women, to stay clear of the masquerade’s route during the celebration.

I remember how we used to be afraid of this Oloolu masquerade as young girls in Ibadan then. Even schools closed early during it's festival so we could run home. Didn't know it's still been celebrated.

  11. As an outsider I don't know what any of this is about, and I'm not interested enough to go find out. At least she knows she got a dent in her head out of it.

Why can't women see it? Why are things like this forbidden to women and not men.
