Court Upholds Two Year Jail Term Handed To Ex UNICAL Dean Cyril Ndifon
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the conviction and two year jail term given to former University of Calabar law dean, Cyril Ndifon, for soliciting pXrnographic photographs from a female student.
The appellate court affirmed the Federal High Court’s ruling on the first count but held that the lower court lacked jurisdiction to hear the second count. It ordered the ICPC to prosecute the second count afresh before the Cross River State High Court. Ndifon was convicted in November 2025 and sentenced to two years on the first count and five years on the second, with both sentences initially set to run concurrently. The ICPC has announced plans to challenge the appellate court’s decision on the second count at the Supreme Court.
