A High Court in Awka convicted him and gave him a two‑year sentence but with the time already spent in custody, he had about eleven months left.
The court also ordered the demolition of his shrine in Oba and directed him to renounce Oke‑ite practices and work as a youth reorientation ambassador after release.
On Friday, September 18, 2026, Governor Soludo visited the Amawbia Correctional Centre and announced the pardon while checking on inmate welfare. He also inspected the Onitsha custodial facility the same day.
