Reality TV Star Sophia Momodu Shares Emotional Life Story At UNGA 81 Side Event
Real housewife of Lagos star Sophia Momodu had an emotional moment in New York as she took the stage at a side event during the 81st United Nations General Assembly. Instead of business, she told her life story of growing up as a pastor’s daughter, and getting pregnant out of wedlock by a global superstar.. She said that she faced years of mockery and silence.
She revealed that despite being famous, her voice was drowned out by negativity surrounding her story. A relative once told her to keep quiet because Black women were not supposed to speak openly about such experiences. Sophia said everything changed when another woman finally gave her a platform, an act of solidarity that helped her reclaim her voice.
Sophia attended UNGA as a delegate representing the Precious Jewels Foundation, which she founded after battling postpartum depression. Her advocacy now focuses on women, children, antenatal education and support for vulnerable families.

The UNGA side events are open to accredited private and public individuals/organisations. These UNGA side events happen all over New York City during the same week. Many of these external events allow individual registration.
Love this & I heard her mention compiling her story into a book, like Toke did a while back. Just like she said , when she spoke at a similar conference held by Forbes, in SA , some months back, that some young mothers with similar experience, asked her some interesting questions & maintained they got something from her experience. I honestly love d way she’s evolving by d day & she speaks eloquently .
