FBI Announces Major Breakthrough In Fight Against Internet Fraud In Nigeria

The FBI has given a major update on its fight against internet fraud in Nigeria, and the numbers are huge. FBI Director Kash Patel announced that 9 arrests have been made in Nigeria as part of its global crackdown codenamed Operation Blackout.

According to Patel, the operation also led to the seizure of 53 electronic devices and the identification of $11 MILLION in potentially freezable funds across multiple countries. He also thanked Nigerian law enforcement and their partners in London for their cooperation while sending a strong warning to fraudsters.
The Nigeria bust is part of a bigger joint operation with Ghana, where a total of 28 people were arrested. In Ghana, 19 suspects were arrested in Sasaabi, Accra, with 303 devices seized and 117 suspected trafficking victims rescued.

The FBI says the targeted schemes include cryptocurrency investment fraud, aka "pig butchering," romance scams, law enforcement impersonation, and digital arrest extortion scams targeting Americans and other victims worldwide.
