I understand you are coming from a place of empathy for Pretty Mary, and I respect that but I still stand by my observation..

There is a big difference between venting occasionally and being a CHRONIC KVETCH.

While I understand that everyone goes through difficult times, there is a limit to how much negativity people should dump on a public space.

You mentioned that I don't know what people are going through, and that is fair. But by that same logic, people also don't know what others are absorbing when they constantly flood the comment section with toxic negativity.

In this specific instance, she was complaining about her friend receiving a 50k bonus from Opay, which should be a thing of joy. Instead of being happy for her friend, she immediately turned it into a complaint about how unfair life is to her. Now, that is what triggered my response. It was the tipping point for me. I am human, and seeing that constant negativity finally pushed me to speak up. Turning what should have been a moment of joy for her friend into a pity party for herself shows a complete lack of gratitude and a habit of always looking at the negative side of things. I no dey like am. Infact, I no like that kain thing.

When someone constantly uses a platform to complain about everything..it affects the people reading them too. To the point of crying over a friend getting help just because it wasn't them???..It feels like forced pity seeking rather than genuine venting. And I have my own chest to stand on, so I chose to express that frustration.

I am not saying my life is a 100/100....far from it. We all got stuff going on, but weaponizing your struggles and constantly casting yourself as the perpetual victim by turning every little thing into a sad story for pity ain’t it.

If she has the right to publicly complain about everything, including her friend's good fortune, I should also have the right to express how exhausting that behavior is.

My comment wasn't meant to maliciously put her down just for the sake of it; but to point out that she needs to change her mindset and start looking at the brighter side of life sometimes. We all have challenges, but feeding into constant negativity doesn't solve them.
