1- Chevron loses 35k barrels daily after militant attack
Gunmen in Niger Delta US energy giant Chevron said it has lost thousands of barrels worth of oil production capacity since militants blew up an offshore platform in Nigeria in renewed violence that could hit exports from Africa’s largest oil producer, the company said.
“Approximately 35,000 barrels per day (bpd) of Chevron’s net crude oil production in Nigeria are impacted,” company spokeswoman Isabel Ordonez said in a statement late Friday.
Militants on Wednesday night used explosives to blow up the Okan platform, a collection facility for offshore oil and gas that feeds the Escravos terminal in southern Nigeria.
2-Fani Kayode: EFCC acting irresponsibly under Buhari, says Fayose

The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has criticized the persistent harassment of Nigerians by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that, the continued detention without trial of Warimopei Dudafa, a former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and invasion of the Abuja residence of former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode were irresponsible, barbaric and undemocratic.
Fayose said it was the height of executive rascality for the EFCC to have held occupants of Fani-Kayode’s residence hostage for eight hours having only invited him to the EFCC office on Monday (2 May), adding that, there was no evidence that Fani-Kayode refused to honour the invitation.
3- Jubilation in Maiduguri over first rain
There was jubilation in Maiduguri, Borno capital and environs on Saturday following the first rainfall witnessed in 2016 by residents.
The rains started around 4:30 a.m. and lasted for about one hour.
Some of the residents said that they were delighted that the rains had come early this year as against the previous years.
According to them, the early rains will reduce the excessive heat being experienced in the state.
4- Saudi Arabia sacks oil minister
Abdulaziz Al SaudSaudi Arabia has sacked its oil minister Ali al-Naimi as part of a major cabinet reshuffle, state media reported.
Naimi was replaced by former health minister Khaled al-Faleh in the overhaul announced on Saturday in a series of royal decrees issued by King Salman.
The Saudi monarch replaced the ministers in charge of the energy, oil, water, transport, commmerce, social affairs, health and pilgrimage portfolios and established a new recreation and culture commission.
5- LASU suspends 4 students over cultism
Four students of the Lagos State University (LASU) have been suspended for cult-related activities and improper conducts.
This is contained in the university’s official bulletin. The affected students are: Shola Rapheal-Olatoye, Department of Management Technology, Saheed Shittu of Social Science Department, Rapheal Anifowose of Economics Department and Muritala Babajide-Ikuforiji, Faculty of Education.
6- Alvarez knocks out Amir Khan to retain world title
Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez knocked out Britain’s Amir Khan in the sixth round in Las Vegas to retain his WBC middleweight title.
Until the brutal ending, Khan had used his superior speed and movement to frustrate the champion and appeared to be well ahead on points.
However, when Khan lost concentration for a split second the champion knocked him cold with a huge right hand.
7-N350 tomato now sells for N3,500
The prices of tomatoes have gone up by 1,000 per cent in Jos and environs in Plateau, a market survey by NAN has shown.
PM news correspondents, who visited some of the markets and other selling points on Thursday, found out that the commodity had gone beyond the reach of the average Nigerian.
At the Terminus Market in Jos, a small basket of the commodity, which used to be N350, was selling for N3,500.
NAN also found that a big basket of the commodity, which sold for N1,000 about two months ago, now costs N10,000.
8- Buhari goes to London Tuesday for world talks on corruption
President Muhammadu Buhari fresh from
his travel to his home state of Katsina, will on Tuesday May 10, 2016 hit the road again to London. He is going to participate in the international Anti-Corruption Summit which will be held in the British capital on Thursday, May 12, 2016. As an internationally recognised leader in the global fight against corruption, President Buhari will play a prominent part in the summit which will be hosted by Prime Minister David Cameron of Great Britain with many other Heads of State and Government in attendance.

A federal judge in San Diego set the stage on Friday when he ordered that Donald Trump, who had virtually won the
Republican nominee contest with the
withdrawal of other contestants, must go to trial starting November 28 in a civil case in which he is accused of defrauding students who attended Trump University.
10- Wike approves vocational training for 200 youths in Israel
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has approved the sponsorship of 200 less- privileged Rivers youths to Israel for
vocational training.
The governor also announced that despite the dwindling resources, the state government will continue to sponsor pilgrims to Jerusalem as Rivers State is totally a Christian state.
Speaking at the launch of the ‘Win A Trip to Israel, WATTI, promo organised by the
Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission,
NCPC, on Friday, Wike said that the youths will be trained to acquire skills to be self- reliant.

Tomatoes is the new gold right now in Lagos, I dont know what happened, it is that serious. Infact residents of Maiduguri would be like, is this rain? Fayose should be called to order by elder statesmen in his state. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne split after 33yrs of marriage. This is nonsense. If you tolerate each other for that long then why break up?
