Labour Room Drama 162

OMG!!!!

Hello Stella,

How are you doing? I have always wanted to send my labour room drama. I guess it is now time.
I decided to send to my first child LRD first. There was plenty drama.

I got pregnant immediately after I got married. i was not really sick during the first trimester. Just a few vomits now and then. Still did my work normally like I was not pregnant.

Fast forward to the months later, in December to be precise. Something woke hubby and I up and I discovered that my water had broken. My hubby tried calling my pastor’s wife but she was not picking so he called his sister and she advised us to go to the hospital. I was not feeling any pain.

When it clocked 5am we went to the hospital. Note that I had not started feeling any pains so the doctor admitted me and asked me wait to see the gynaecologist. When the gynae came in, we went to see him and he said I would have to be induced.

The next day I was induced they put a tablet inside my vagina. After sometime I started to feel pains it was soooooo bad that I cannot explain. Could not sleep throughout the night. My mum was there with me, I did not let her rest. I kept telling her to call the nurse. The next morning at about 7.30 am the nurse came to check me and she said I was fully dilated. She took me to labour room.

My husband was there with me. I was asked to push when I felt the contractions. After three pushes and a tear he was out. My captain adorable was taken out to another room amidst cries. I wish the story ended here but no, it didn’t.

A day after his naming I started having headache. I told my hubby and he got me some medication. I went to sleep and I do not remember what happened after then. My mum said she was alone with me at home and I collapsed after I woke up from my sleep. She called hubby and told him and they had to rush me to another hospital.

This time a general hospital. On getting there they checked my blood pressure and it was very high. They gave me medicine to bring it down and I went to sleep. At about the time I was supposed to wake up I had a fit and then I slipped into a coma.

My mum panicked. She was there with my dad. my reverend and his wife were there too. i was in a coma for 6 days. My husband had a horrible new year. He told me a doctor told him that I had bled in the brain and that they wanted to treat me to a peaceful death.

On the sixth day which was the 2nd of January after much prayers my husband was asked to take me for another CT scan and he came with the result. The doctors were confused when they saw the result. The blood in my brain had started receding.

My husband said shortly after I woke up from that coma. God is so awesome. I am in awe of Him each time I remember this story. It took me about a month before I left the hospital.

I had to learn to walk again. My hubby says I did not even remember him after I came around. I sent a picture of me and my baby for your eyes only.
This is not just an LRD but also a testimony. Hopefully I will be sending my second LRD soon.

Thank you Stella for this platform.

  9. God indeed saw you through to live to testify. This is a problem that has to b addressed in antenatal clinics. Eclampsia! I had this problem after my first child, severe headache 2days post partum. My mom was worried, suggested i shld check my Bp. Lo and behold, it was on the high side. The nxt morning, I was taken to the Hospital, given drugs and Bp normalized. Had it also in my third pregnancy. pregnant women shld b properly educated abt this. It is one of the major causes of death after delivery.
