DeleteDenzel's "John Q" movie was similar, at least the SWAT aspect, but his son wasn't brain-dead. He had a heart defect, and needed a transplant, but didn't qualify for one due to a number of reasons. He held the hospital's ER hostage, to force their hand into giving his son the next available heart.
