That's their standard..someone will meet it..also men have their standard. So no big deal.they are not special.

Men and womens roles are in no way the same, she claims to be putting money aside because some men dash her money time to time, so you can afford to squeeze out and save.
A young man will not get any support, still have to send money home, pay some of his girlfriends bills, save some money to pay for courses to advance in his career and you expect him to save with at same pace as you do?
Even the so called whites you copy, don’t they come together to buy the house.
Most men who have the houses and the money you want do not even want you, half want a woman who is homely and prayerful, not one who is on ig dancing around… all I am saying is, we keep setting these standards not asking God what we really need and then we wonder why things don’t work out.

Their lives revolve around plastic surgeries , who has the latest brand shoe/ bag and the latest trends in makeup /hair … I pity the men who want to marry these ones …Their own is to remain side chicks for all these rich guys ,nothing more , nothing less. But they are not setting the standard for all the women and men in Nigeria. They are setting standards for themselves alone. If Toke requires her man to own a house in Banana and a Bentley, how does that translate to it being the standard for the whole country.

If your teenage daughter ignores all the accomplished and thriving women in Nigeria to select, and chooses Toke and Lilian as role models, you have a much much bigger problem than this interview.

DeleteNigerians enjoy poverty Olympics. The women that married men that aren't wealthy, including the women sending chronicles every eke market day, aren't quite a number of them still dealing with incessant infidelity, abuse and all sorts, basically as a dressing, on top of the financial struggles they have to endure daily. It is also on this same internet that we read stories of women who married 'potential', and it never materialized, or it did and their partners 'traded up' for more flashy partners.
ReplyDeleteWe tend to equate lack or struggle with good behavior. Lilian and Toke want what they want. Everyone is allowed to have standards, regardless of how ''extra" it might seem to you and I. It is theirs to have. There is absolutely no manual to a good marriage. They are girls that are used to a certain lifestyle and the truth is, they will struggle to be married to an average salary earner. Even the average man will struggle to keep up with them.
After all Toke was married in the past to a 'regular' guy, and we all know how that story ended. Money is not everything, but it certainly makes love and romance flow easier, but people are not honest.
