Gospel Singer Sammie Okposo Reportedly Sat Down Watching TV And Slept Off Into Glory + How He Was Rejected

More details concerning the death of gospel minister, Sammie Okposo emerged over the Weekend.

HOW HE SLEPT OFF INTO GLORY

Lead Pastor of the LOGIC Church, Flourish Peters, revealed the last moments of the 51-year-old who passed away on Friday.

“On Friday, I received a troubling call around 4.45am – a call I wish I never received. But it is what it is.
It was Ozy Okposo (Sammie Okposo’s wife name) on the other side of the phone saying ‘Sammie, wake up in Jesus name’.

“So, contrary to what blogs reported, he did not slump and die.
He sat on the chair watching TV, before sleeping. But never went back upstairs to sleep. From his sleep, he slept into glory.

“I went there and saw the body. I conducted CPR and hit him hard. But nobody sees Jesus and looks away. It becomes challenging when a believer crosses over to the other side.
It is deeply painful for me. I feel hurt,” Peters said shortly before his sermon on Sunday''

HOW SAMMIE WAS REJECTED BECAUSE OF HIS SCANDAL

The general overseer of Power City International Church, Pastor Abel Damina, has reveled more on the death of Sammie Okposo.
During his sermon in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, he stated how the church took part in the death of Sammie Okposo.

Abel, who faulted the church for the singer’s death, said churches failed to offer support and encouragement to the singer during his sex scandal issue a few months ago.

He said, “When pastor Matthew Ashimolowo broke the news to me and I went on social media, I saw lots of RIP and what came to my mind is the cruelty of the church and the wickedness in the hearts of people that are in churches.

“Sammie was in a situation not too long ago, and all the church could do was to team up and denounce him, wound him, scandalize him, stop him from their churches without informing him, cancel his meetings, delete his number and shut him down.

”As far as the churches are concerned, he is now Satan. And the only organization on earth that wounded him is the church. A brother does something wrong. Instead of rallying around and restoring him, rebuke him in love and strengthen him.

”After his death, many are now saying what a loss, but you were the people that killed him. What kills a man fast is rejection,” he stated.

  1. What is all this guilt tripping about abeg? I applaud those churches that took those stand on his philandering ways. This isnt even a one time cheat oh but a serial one and these people won't let us hear word.

    2. Maybe if it was Abel Damina or Apostle Suleiman's daughter that was defiled by a pastor or church leader, they'll understand the need to discipline such actions strictly. RIP Sammie and I will genuinely miss you, no pretending.

The church should have rebuke him in love, the general public already crucified him enough.

Imagine if God was to use the same energy on us, we will all be chilling in hell. Let's learn to love more and judge less abeg.

So if someone erred, he or she shouldn't be chastised, rebuked and disciplined?
Or because he's a popular person he is above being rebuked and disciplined right?

Please enough of these guilt tripping narrative, and allow the family grieve their loss.
R.I.P to him and may his family, friends and loved ones be consoled,Amen.

    7. Exactly, People don’t just fall into adultery. These things spring up gradually and with intentional godly living and help of the Holy Spirit could have been nipped at the bud early enough.
He was living a life that did not reflect what he sang and preached, that is hypocrisy. I personally would not want to associate with people that live that way.

The church promotes godly values. If they continued to promote him in the midst of all that, wouldn’t it seem like what he was doing was ok? What message would that have sent to the congregation looking up to him?

Besides If not that it became public scandal would he really have come out on his own in true repentance?

Well, I don’t remember any church publicly shaming him but even the Bible has steps of disciplining and restoring erring members. I don’t see the wrong churches did by cancelling his appointments. I wouldn’t have attended if my church was hosting him at the time. Let him go and find his way first before looking for who to lead.
He did it not once but serially, common.

    8. Exactly. All I see here is excuses to exonerate future adulterous men of any accountability. And Lord knows that they already have no accountability especially in Africa. African men need to know that actions have consequences. They really do. Because already they feel untouchable. It's sad he passed but his punishments should serve as a deterrent and a cautionary tale that if u fuk around, you're gonna find out. I won't lie. I was shocked and slightly impressed that he faced any kind of backlash at all because usually Nigerian men get away with such rubbish. I don't think it is fair to say the church killed him. If he had stayed away from philandering, he would have gotten shows booked. So why is noone acknowledging that?. It's like Nigerian men don't wanna suffer consequences for bad behaviour

      Delete
    9. The write up is so senseless. You can tell Nigeria men are not used to being castigated or reprimanded for wrong doing by how they reason and talk. They operate like spoiled children. Nigerian men do not know discipline, and that's why the ones we have running the country have turned it to a shithole. If a white man does this scandalous thing and is caught, he is prepared for the backlash and knows he deserves it. He expects to be tongue lashed and takes it on the chin. But african men are so not used to that, so much so, that being punished for wrong doing makes them confused and seems like a huge feat that cannot be overcome..i think that's what killed Sammie. Maybe he could not mentally handle the consequences and it manifested as depression and illness. If a man kills people or steals and is caught and ends up in jail, then decides to kill himself out of shame of his actions. Do we blame the judge, the legal system or the prison for his suicide? If someone is consistently late to work and underperforms and he gets fired, and he suffers immense starvation. Do we blame his employers? Also laugh at people who use any flimsy excuse to blame the church for any bad experience they have there, as if church is not made of human beings like you and I. Sammie was human , but being human does not save you from any punishment you are meant to serve. If you do the crime, you will do the time. And that discipline is what makes us all better humans.

They keep deluding themselves. In the Bible there's room for brokenness. A contrite and broken spirit the Lord will not despise. If the Lord could bring David ( the one He loved so much) a year after he had murdered Uriah after committing adultery with his wife to a place of brokenness through His prophet Nathan. How much more we, who are His children? Didn't the scriptures state in the new testament that we should correct one another in love? Expel from out midst the wicked?

I have left Nigerian churches for these money mongering pulpit bandits. Where were their voices when Osinachi was being violated by her husband. They have abandoned the Gospel of Christ.

    11. Anon 13.55 you forgot David also paid a huge price with the Life of his child. For every action there are consequences.

    12. Who will show us the appropriate biblical scriptures on this matter.

How I miss the views and comments of those two BVs' on a subject like this.

Men fall every where. And it is wrong to think that European or American men get just treatment while Nigerian men go scot free of their moral failings.

Turning every issue to a "Nigerian men" matter depreciates the value of a post. That's why it won't be right to emphasize here that the woman who called Sam out the last time is a Nigerian woman who knew he was married and a gospel songs singer. A foreigner may read this comment ask whether all Nigerian women are such that they willingly sleep with other women husbands including pastors. Of course the answer is no. So, just as we cannot use the conduct of the woman who participated with him to judge all Nigerian women. Let us not befog the real issue her, which is: how erring Christian's should be disciplined by the Church of Christ.

      Thanks Stella, for posting.

Now without autopsy results, Christians are being blamed for not looking the other way the upteenth time while Sammmy continued to prey on or frolic with women.

Sammy's wife survived the shame and betrayal with many bloggers pampering the pregnant side piece. Guard your pants. May God console all those he left behind.

The absurdity of the comment drives home the extreme stand of those (mostly women) who blame men alone for adulterous acts with willing women as in the case of the woman who made the last public allegations against Sam.

No matter how shaded, that woman, her own words, is as involved as Sam.

She should not be blamed only because she spoke out.

Did God not love Adam and Eve when he had to send them out of his garden? Or David when he lost his son? Or Jonah when a fish swallowed him? Or Moses when he barred him from entering the promised land?

How many times will the church continue to correct in love? Is it because this one became a scandal and blew open?

The church did what they had to do. If you are a minister or gospel artist preaching christ, you should refrain from certain immoral acts or face the consequences. . If you want to continue being wayward then leave the church and be a philanderer in peace.

THEY WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY GO AWAY. YOU MUST ASK GOD FOR HELP AND DO THE RIGHT THINGS TO HELP YOU OVERCOME THEM...SAME WITH EVERY OTHER SIN WE BATTLE WITH....i was in HOTR years back when he was excommunicated from the church because of same women related issues...he still went on to minister in that same HOTR after he was called back and even years later before attending this present church before he died..i do not know which of the churches they are all now claiming treated him like that but when you have had the same issues for years and refused to change then expect such reactions...the church cannot just keep letting issues slide while ministers keep tarnishing the image of the church..people now do all kinds of things even in the house of God because we do not want to judge or we are all sinners...work out your salvation..I personally believe God allowed this last incident so that sammie can truly change...what if he had no time to truly amend his ways before death came calling? RIP minister Sammie. I know you made your peace with God and are in the arms of your master in heaven...you shared your gift of music to the world and we will continue to be blessed with your songs.

    1. Wow..can you imagine that. That's to tell you how bold he had gotten In the adultery. What a shame. I think the chickens finally just came home to roost for him..simple and short. I think he allowed the adulterous life to consume him and couldn't find a way out of it so God manufactured one. And Lord knows his wife didn't have the dignity to leave him and make him suffer consequences of his actions n God had to Just forcefully do right by her. Sometimes He does that. When a person has suffered too much by the hands of another, God removes the person causing the other person pain.and sometimes that means death for the offending party. That's why it's good to be kind to people. Sammie cared less about his wife's mental health, causing her shame n was possibly exposing her to terminal STD's. Sometimes people esp men become so emboldened in their ways that they feel untouchable and God is always there to remind them to be humble. The church's shunning of Sammie was that reminder. It's a shame that the church is being blamed for his death when the church did not tell him to commit adultery. Nor was the church there when he committed the acts
God took my aunt's abusive and recklessly adulterous husband away n the guy passed away quickly after coming down with a mysterious illness. Of course there was no church to blame for his passing because it was very clear he did that to himself. Getting venereal diseases, mistreating my aunt who loved him way more than he ever loved her, sleeping with anything in skirt, packing to go n stay with another woman then coming back to force his wife out so he could live peacefully with another woman in the house his wife's family built for them btw. He didn't take care of that woman once, always her family members helping them out, to pay school fees, rent n all. he even got charmed by one of the women into being her slave sef. I'm talking the kind of thing u see in nollywood films where the woman turns a man to mumu. Lord knows if that's what finally killed him

  20. Sammy Okposo has always lived a life of ... even right in the churches where he served and the churches know that. Growing older, if he was sincere in his belief in Christ, should have dealt with that demon long ago knowing who and what he represents in Christendom. Is he the first Christian, choirmaster, gospel artist or man to fall into such sin? No. Why did he not consider the implication of sweeping his many ungodly actions under the carpet until his most recent and overblown scandal? He was at it for so long without remorse and even as a married man, ought to feel for and respect his pretty, patient and loving wife and children, if he has any but no. The 'church' got tired of his too many scandals and insults upon the church due to his ways, so if they choose to keep away from him, so be it. We only pray that he genuinely repented and made peace with his creator before departing this world.

Many people embraced his gift/talent in music above his weakness including me cos have always known that he has a major weakness with women. He showed pastor Paul she and at a time he was excommunicated in the church later on he was still shown love in the same church.

However,if what was written about the church was even true,he brought it upon himself and the church shouldn't be blame for that.

Like Paul said; he found himself doing things that he did not want to do. by staying in the place of constant prayers and worship and warfare we prevail over these powers . Rest on Sammie. If you have any persistent bloodline issues, forget about churches that tell you that once saved you don’t need deliverance, because now you how e be for your body. Foundation fights until you defeat it completely and most times , is inside spiritual warfare. David fought battles all his life and Solomon had rest on every side. Is clear how Solomon ended with 700 wives and 300 concubines, he relaxed from his adulterous foundation, the foundation ended destroying him. A word is enough for the wise.
