    1. Yes, we sometimes work hard for our family. We can't expect another person to take over their family wealth. Mind you church affair is semi business too. That said, congratulations to him. May God lead him. I love his character in "The Wait" movie.

    5. But he is a pastor now, though youth pastor. It just means now,he would not have time for acting again. It's now time to fully grow up.

    6. Yes @ Nigeria first daughter! I trust ,that is God that wants his attention! So he can cut all those rubbish dreadlocks and remove yeye earrings from his ears! He is a covenanted child and a chosen one! He now has to face God! I will use myself as an example as a chosen one! Once is time! You must step in! For me, no more weaves and attachments! Is natural hair, all the way!

    7. Anon 20:15, you well so? You have not seen pastor in weaves and attachments who are being mightily used by God? Na wa wa for you oo

    8. They are made pastors to secure the family investment. Even Bakares, Kumuyis and Oyedepos sons are also ordained to take over the one family business. The Abioyes under these guys stayed on too long and will have to contend with being bossed around by the boys that called them uncle.

    9. Anon 20:15 please explain. I got a message to stop using attachments. But what hairstyle will I do that doesn't involve attachments

    10. This guy is giving me strong gay vibes, why should the leadership be passed to him? Don't corrupt the body of Christ please! Even family business should have decorum!

  4. I don't see how he can be the senior pastor of the church and still continue his acting career, which by the way is splendid! I love his acting and he is a very good actor. I hope it's not feeling that he has to do the right thing by his parents at the expense of his passion. His sister is more into the church thing but I guess a woman can't be a senior pastor or what? Well,I wish him well and hope this brings him satisfaction.

    1. He has always been a pastor, well before acting

    2. Why not? Pastors should actually be encouraged to have other sources of income so they can pastor their congregation without focusing on where their next meal will come from and focusing on only prosperity gospel. The only challenge will be his schedule and the workload of being on set and having church related obligations to fulfill at the same time. Instead of acting, he could become a producer and start funding movie projects.

  9. Hmmm...existing pastors can run the church whislt he's the board chairman nau. Anyway.......

  10. Is church now a family business? Has this young man ever been engaged in the daily affairs of the church? Does he even have a ministerial calling? Where are the men and women who helped his father run the church while he was alive? Non of them is good enough?
It is not surprising anyways. Billy Graham handed the church over to his son. Other ministries seem to have done the same. Margaret Idahosa took over after her husband. The Oyedepo boys have been positioned in waiting. As much as efforts have been made, Enenches only son doesn't appear too keen on taking after his father. But his mom is patiently strategizing.

The question remains. Is the church of God? If it is, doesn't He have a say in picking a successor? Well, whatever has to be said, know God for yourself and by yourself.

    2. I understand the Oyedepos because I mean they are really boiling for God. The first son does foot evangelism. He literally goes to village to preach and share food so I wouldn’t bat an eye if he takes over from his dad.

  11. What spiritual training does he have? This decision is appalling. Many members will look for a new church 🙄

  12. Kai. With this appearance I don't even know what to say. I'm not judging, but there's a saying about book cover and the content of the book. If you know it, tell me please 🙏 🙂

    2. If you are a Bible student, you should have come across the word Nazarene or Nazarite. These are men dedicated to God by birth. And one prerequisite for them was that no razor should touch their hair., e.g Samson. This is the origin of dreadlocks. So before in your holier than thou, judgmental mode, condenm Jimmy, try to get yourself aquainted with the Bible, the guide book for all true Christians

    2. Anon 20:17. I hope you also know that the Levites were not entitled to any material inheritance in the land of Israel, like God said, he is their (Levites) inheritance.
Can you compare this with the stupendous wealth these pastors are amassing for themselves and thus the need to keep it(wealth) within the family as is now the pattern in many Pentecostal churches?

  26. May the Grace of our Lord Jesus abide with him and his sisters and brothers and entire family. May you do the work the church has bestowed upon you with the strength of the Lord and at the end of it all be confident to say Lord Jesus come I wish you well pastor Jimmy.

  27. pastor Jimmy has been pastor of cave church in lagos before he was appointed pastor of fountain of life.... he was pastor before his acting career picked of.... even in the bible, God selected the Levites to the priesthood if you wasnt from the levitical priesthood you couldnt be a priest.... did people then call the Levites family business...? No.... nothing wrong with pastor Jimmy being main pastor of fountain of life church, we just pray he does it unto God and not unto man in Jesus name

    1. How does this analogy match the current scenario?

      Delete
    2. FYI, Yes, it was a family business for the Levites because they were not allowed to own land nor engage in any other business, farming etc. That is the genesis of tithing (to ensure they had food to eat) since they were not allowed to do anything else besides God/temple related work, offering burnt offerings etc.

  28. Did God bypass Isaac? God works with families. After Abraham was his son Isaac, then Jacob and it continued until it got to Joseph the father of Jesus.
So before y'all cast aspersions and ask if church is a family thing, which of course it is. Read your Bibles.

    1. Christians are not Jews. God walked and worked with everyone and called each individually. Joshua's children didn't end up being judges and christian walk with God is personal. None of the the disciples children took over the church. Jesus' brother did not inherit his ministry. Family business is what is going on in pentecostalism: the inheritance of physical assets and the means of sourcing them, property and businesses. You are either reading the Bible amiss, confusing Jews for Christians or knowingly misleading people.

  30. Congratulations to him. So you are expecting a GO to handover all his hardwork to another person. Dey there dey play now.
Have you seen a GO's son or daughter that's not a pastor in the church? There's nothing as lucrative as owning a church or getting involved in politics so. For this two money no dey finish
Whether you like it or not once your dad or mum owns a church ALL OF YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED TO SERVE. So it's a family business.
