DeleteThat's how yhis priest came to my former parish with changes that killed our vibrant choir within a year all in the name of being a liturgist and a diocesan music chaplain. Sunday Mass will be sounding like a requiem Mass. Even the normal station of the cross song was altered and the congragation could barely keep up with the tempo.

Slave owners or not, the songs were inspired and have incredible root, unlike many Christian Genz songs these days, which only gratifies dancing skills and have no spiritual or scriptural depths.
ReplyDeleteMany songs till date are birthed in deep places of the writers. Not necessarily when they are happy.
I also won't go to a church without good music, but I won't settle for a church whose main songs are meant to just sweat it out, rather than the lyrics praising, worshiping and glorifying God.
The purpose of praise and worship is to glorify God, not to primarily show our dancing skills and sweat it.oit
