Lagos Stae Gov Sanwo Olu Denies Rift With President Tinubu

HAHAHAHAHHAHA....

On Sunday June 8, 2025 Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, denied that there is any rift between him and President Bola Tinubu.

Sanwo-Olu and members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) visited Tinubu at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
He was asked by journalists after the meeting if there was a rift and he said
the president remains his father and leader.

“Do you see any discord? Can’t you see that you are smiling? I’m smiling. There’s none (feud),” .
“There are people who believe that they are more Catholic than the Pope. People are just crying more than the bereaved. We are grateful that he has given us an audience today.”

There have been rumours that the relationship between Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu is not cordial following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa as the Lagos house of assembly speaker.

But Obasa was later restored as the speaker.
Last Saturday, Tinubu snubbed Sanwo-Olu during the inauguration of the completed phase 1, section 1 of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.

On Thursday, Sanwo-Olu was absent when Tinubu flagged off the reconstruction of the deep seaport access road in the state.

  5. The GAC really rose up to mend the fences and keep order which is the people/crisis management other states lack. Sanwo Olu has never been an astute politician and I think Tinubu now realizes that desperate political merchants took advantage of this regarding the primaries /upcoming elections especially since the house members have turned against the biggest player (speaker) at the cost of his own political family and senatorial district so close to an election.

The Babas who rose to Sanwo Olu's defence understand the game very well and saw he was a victim of many circumstances. Tinubu ought to delegate the nitty gritty ground work to a trusted committee within the GAC that will report directly to him and higher members like Baba Olusi, properly cocoon Obasa and assuage his structure and leave Sanwo Olu to the administrative duties he is good at. For someone not used to or interested in the dark arts of politics, he tried in a state like Lagos with the highest stakes. That picture taken after the visit is a serious statement. Seeing those big birds (awon bage bage) of Lagos grassroots politics showing up to help the governor mend fences was really something. Gbogbo oju pe. May we not disturb our elders. The moment they began to alight from their bus, regally navigating their walking sticks,I just smiled- Omo odo Agba has sent schemers scampering for a while.
