 Niger State governor, Mohammed Bago has directed the Ministry for Land and Survey to issue certificate of occupancy (C of O) to the Federal Government to facilitate immediate construction of resettlement homes for the victims of the Mokwa flood disaster.The governor gave the directives during an on-the-spot assessment of houses destroyed by the flood in Mokwa, where he addressed the people of the community.

Activist lawyer Femi Falana has cautioned the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, against sealing off embassies over non-payment of ground rent.

Falana warned the FCTA, under the leadership of Minister Nyesome Wike, that sealing off embassies located in Abuja would lead to a serious diplomatic crisis for Nigeria.

On the orders of Wike, officials of FCTA had embarked on sealing off some properties over failure to pay ground rent.

About six men have died, and three women have sustained various injuries from a suspected improvised explosive device, IED, believed to have been set by the newly formed Lakurawa terrorist group operating in Sokoto and Kebbi states.

The incident, which happened in Gwabro village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, raised concerns about the group’s increasing notoriety.
