Senate Begs President Tinubu To Help NDLEA Pay Over ₦200m Compensation For Slain Toddler

The Nigerian Senate has urged President Bola Tinubu to support the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in paying ₦200 million compensation to the family of two-year-old Ivan Omhonrina, who was tragically killed by a stray bullet during an NDLEA operation in Asaba, Delta State, in July 2023.

The senate seeks compensation of ₦200 million to Ivan’s family, beyond the ₦25 million already paid and also continued treatment for Ivan’s younger brother, Eromonsele, who sustained a serious eye injury....

The senate also urged the Attorney General of the Federation to ensure prosecution of the NDLEA officer responsible.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole said  “Uniform should never be a license to kill innocent people.” while Senate President Akpabio extended condolences and called the tragedy a “reminder of the need for accountability in law enforcement.”

  2. Until they are made to pay and set as an example, there would continue to be trigger happy wizards roaming the streets and disguising as the citizens protectors.

  3. Sad, may God console the family. But I expected the senate to give up part of their allowances for this cause
